Vaulted Ceiling Fixture?

I have a vaulted ceiling in our master bathroom that is a short bladed fan. I hate it and it looks silly. I think the previous owners had it because their is not a bathroom "fan" installed like in the other bathrooms. I guess I don't see the need for fan in a high vaulted bathroom. Does anyone know what would look good in its place?

Yes, I know...a chandelier! Of course, I may be biased because I think a chandelier would look good in any room. I would be concerned about ventilation though. if it's a bathroom where showers are frequently taken you'll need a vent to the outside of the house. It might be helpful to find out the code in your area for bathroom ventilation in a bathroom...our city has very specific code we had to follow.

If you can get to a lighting store I suggest you go and look. This was my favorite shopping research. The people who work in the stores I've been to are so helpful and can show options from beautiful catalogs. All 3 lights I ordered sight unseen and I'm thrilled. My kitchen ceiling is vaulted and we have these modern fixtures and a "pole extender" or something to drop them low enough.

For the ventilation fan, I'm glad I have one since I run it to dry out the shower/tub and it seems to stay clean and grunge free longer with less time for mildew etc. to grow in wet environment.

Our kitchen has vaulted ceiling also, but not that high over the table, so we have a hanging fixture. We have a recessed light that illuminates the other side of the kitchen, where the ceiling is pretty high. It provides ambient light to that side of the room, but if our table were under it, I don't think it would throw off the right kind of light. If I were you, I would reconsider putting a hanging fixture over the table. If you're concerned that a 14-foot chain might not look right, go to a good light fixture store and browse through some catalogues. You'll get good ideas on how to deal with your issue.

Several issues I immediately notice with this room: (1) You have a sectional that is far too large for the space it is in. (2) You have disparate colors (tan walls, gray sofa) that don't particularly work well together, and you like pink. ;) I would use a neutral color, like a soft off-white, to tie the gray and tan in together. I really like the second rug grover axle suggested, as it uses a neutral (the off-white) as the main color, then pulls in the pink you like, some grays/greiges, and also a bit of teal from your family room. I also agree that you should remove that corner piece of your sectional, and put a square end table there. Right now, it looks as if you've shoehorned that sectional in there. Removing the corner piece will allow you to move the section against the stairs in a little, giving that space some breathing room. I would suggest drapes in a natural/off-white linen or linen-look fabric. No sparkle/shiny material. Get throw pillows in natural/off-white, maybe one or two max in blush pink, and then throw in a teal. Your sofa material does not lend itself to shiny/satiny, so look for more natural textures. The velvet you like would work, but look for plain pillows, no additional sparkly beads, etc.

^^^what RL said. I love good layered lighting and personally dislike can lighting especially in high ceilings. If most concerned about evening, lamps both floor and table along with possibly some floor wall wash lights to highly ceiling and corners would play nice in these rooms. Once you get furniture in, it is easier to decide where lighting is best. All remote control plugs help and dimmers. As to the dining light, shape is nice if it mirrors shape of table. Most make the mistake of hanging lighting too high. If you are keeping that dining light, you need it lower. But if they cut the wires at the junction box and didn’t leave extra wire up there, you will need new fixture. Re wiring fixtures usually costs more than comparable fixture. I think this can be a stunning home. Don’t scrimp on lighting. It will “make” your home.

Our vaulted ceiling MB also did not have ventilation fan, but we added when we remodeled. Yes, the chandelier will definitely be wonderful in the MB. If you are remodeling we were able to place an in-line (Fantech, I think) vent in a nearby attic space, then put a vent in the shower area & also run a light/vent combination on the same vent in the WC. As some have suggested we also put on a timer so we don't have to remember to turn off. To complete the lighting picture we placed sconces by the mirrors & recessed lighting in the ceiling. (We also added a skylight with the remodel.) I have no idea how we functioned on the small amount of light we had from the initial chandelier -- it was mounted low, but still . . .
