Can you share pictures and/or links for your materials? It is sometimes difficult to envision material combinations when you can't actually see the materials. However, imagining the tiles from your description, I think the combination of slate and white would be lovely. Will the accent at the top of the shower be of the same granite as the vanity countertop? If so, I think either using the same granite for backsplash or the pearl white glass accent tiles as a backsplash would be lovely (or even a combination of the two). I suspect any color of wood would go well with your selections.

Ours is constructed like busybee's. We were able to get our tub deck, vanity counter & 4" backsplashes for both out of the same slab. As far as the size, I would definitely take another look at having the tub area recessed between the 2 walls. Doing so will make cleaning much easier on the far side of the tub deck, your tub will be able to be centered in the deck without creating a wide expanse of tub decking to navigate over every time you get in or out of the tub, it will cut down on the cost of the deck no matter which option you go with, and it can add character to the area and bring attention to the tub which sounds like it will the centerpiece between the toilet closet and shower. Our tub is very wide and our deck is 48" wide--so I have first hand experience with the cleaning-reach issues and the navigation in & out with a wider tub deck. I often wonder if DH & I will even take a bath when we're old & gray and have problems getting around because of the tub deck width. Something to think about... Hope this helps!

We have had the thinner 1 cm quartz for a few years now as tub surround and behind the toilet. I am glad we chose it as it is totally problem free. It's true, unless things have changed, there are less choices and it actually cost more than the thick stuff. I wouldn't recommend the regular thickness. Way too heavy and it juts out too far. The thin is more like a tile would be as far as sticking out. I forget but I think the installers used very thin pieces of heavy rubber (like for windows) or something to set the quartz on the tub. The weight is supported well as it is glued on so the wall is supporting much of the weight. I did complete waterproofing on the wall first also. I think you need a skilled installer and a very skilled person to do the templating. Don't forget to add a grab bar or two. This was done for us but the support has to be installed in the studs before drywall and quartz go on. The quartz guys cut the holes for it and the shower and tap controls. It is a lot of precision work. We also had two niches on one wall which they lined with the quartz and the bottom ledge of the niches were made with the granite we used for our counter. There were several nice marble look ones when we were doing this and they make nice tub surrounds.

You need a comprehensive design plan, and budget plan. A successful kitchen will live within those limits. It can't absorb 5 different budget busters, nor can it deal with 5 different ''must have because I'm in love'' elements. There are a lot of right choices for the different elements that neither bust the budget nor shout ''I'm the star''. Learn how to put together your kitchen with those, with your superstars then carefully selected to fit into those surroundings. That may or may not mean choosing a counter that you love, since you state that the range and venting were your ''must haves''. You can't have it all. Decide what are the musts, within the overall context. Not as each element as an individual. That is T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Remember that none of these pretty things will ever love you back. Some can perform better, and that is always worth considering as an ''upgrade'', but not if it blows the budget, or skews the other choices. For instance, a 14K refrigerator shouldn't even be on the table if that choice makes you consider skimping in another area, like not choosing a pro to correctly install your floors, or you decide to skip adding lighting. "Splurges'' should NEVER mean that another element gets shorted to below a reasonable standard.
