Must decide! Getting 2 dishwashers:Bosch and KA-your thoughts?
Comments (14)This is all great advice. I figured out today (duh - late to the party, maybe?) that the Dimension Plus model also has the "auto open" feature - it's just not that well advertised (maybe they think people will downgrade from the Diamond?) The fully integrated one is about $1900 here at a local appliance store - that's high but really not that much her that the KA KUD60 or KUD70 models. I'm going to take in a bunch of dishes and give it a try. I've read that there's sort of an adjustment period for learning to load it. If our tall glasses fit (they are my lifeline,) then Miele we shall order! Is it best to order through a local store and have them install it? Or will service go through a Miele rep anyway (not the store?) I ask b/c my house is crawling with contractors and our plumber is great. There are some better prices on the internet but all my other appliances I have ordered locally because they will service them (family run appliance store - three generations.) BUT they don't service Miele so I'm not sure if it makes a difference? OK - so Bosch is out. KA is looking less likely. If the Miele fits, buy it?! (P.S. The Ferguson here in Baltimore, MD has a lower model - G 4thousand something for sale as a floor model for $895. Not sure if anyone wants that model but you should call if you do! As I said, I missed getting the floor sample Diamond by a matter of hours. UGH!...See MoreNew Bosch Dishwasher won't clean dishes
Comments (24)There is definitely not enough water coming in. There's not even enough water to make it to the float switch. (the round thing in the photo behind your spray arm ) If your water valve is fully open, you most likely have a pinched water line or because the installer did not flush the water line before hooking it up to the new d/w you now have a clogged water valve screen.. This is an installer issue and they should take care of it for you. Most manufacturers will not cover by warranty an installation issue....See MoreWhich is better: dishwasher with food trap or disposal feature?
Comments (6)I think rather than 'better', it's a matter of personal preference. If you have found the perfect (for your dishes, your use) dishwasher and it comes with trap, don't be afraid to purchase, they don't require a lot of attention. My KA still has the 'grinder'. Its quieter than dishwashers used to be, not nearly as quiet as those with trap where you really cannot even tell if running without a signal light. I'm somewhat indifferent. A bit (low level) of noise during dishwashing cycles doesn't bother me, I'm just happy I'm not hand washing dishes. If I needed to buy new, a trap - or not - wouldn't be a deal breaker either way....See MoreNew Dishwasher: KitchenAid vs Bosch
Comments (46)Just to add a data point, I will never buy KA again. Two years ago, KA actually bought back my top-of-the-line dw at full price because the board kept fritzing out and they couldn't replace it. So, because KA did the right thing, I bought another top-model KA (KDTM404) because I'm naive like that. After one year, the new model stopped cleaning dishes. It's out of mechanical warranty by this time and, not wanting to endure any more of KA's "customer service," I and my engineer dad embarked upon repairs. We narrowed the problem down to the pump assembly and purchased another (over $200) to replace it. Get the dw apart and, surprise, the assembly doesn't fit. It's identical to the old assembly, but something is off. I disassemble the old assembly and discover that the metal impeller in the old pump has shredded itself. So we frankensteined the old assembly to the pump from the new assembly and after a weekend's worth of labor the dw now works again, who knows for how long. None of this answers the question of why a pump in a year-old, very expensive dishwasher would spontaneously self-destruct. No, I do not place auto parts, road gravel, or shrapnel in the dw. It also doesn't answer why KA can't make parts correctly. So no more KA. Ever....See MoreStacey Collins
