Beware of the Love Bug Hutch & Buffet

I'm almost done with my Valentine decor. Amazing
how much I have now that I'm not decorating at the
office. I haven't been changing out the inside of
this cabinet but still like to help it blend with the rest
of the DR so added a few valentine things.

Photobucket is not playing well with others tonight
so I might had to do several posts to share all.hmmm
I left the snowflakes on this cabinet since I used my
Johnson Brothers Friendly Village on the lg cabinet.

I painted several of these Love Bugs in two sizes.

Here's the buffet all decorated for VDay.

Hope this will help brighten some of these cold days we
are having.

Punk, Everything is so bright and cheerful. That is just what we need on these seemingly never ending winter days!.
The love bugs are just adorable did you paint them recently?
I love the foil trees and wreaths. In fact I love it all

Darling, darling darling. (Your china closet is to die for, by the way.)

The love bugs are adorable. I like the bright colors on the XoXo and Be Mine signs.

Where'd you find the heart-shaped plates. Usually those kind of plates are smaller. I like the bigger size.

Nice job all around. Cheerful.

Punk, I had to close the blinds so I could get a picture of that window ledge. Made me laugh when I read "hiding in the dark". LOL The cherub on the moon was a good find, sort of unique and it has a really nice finish on it. The one holding the bird is my favorite, just love the expression and pose of the little guy. I need to come up with an idea for using him with a birdhouse or something for a centerpiece sometime. Punk, the little hearts are not painted on the plates, just wooden ones I used textured snow on and then painted to resemble "cookies". Sunny Ca., maybe that explains the different colors on the cherubs. Maybe I'm just too picky but the variations bugged me. LOL DD, thanks for your sweet comment about my painted items. This is the only painted Valentine thing I have! Need to get busy and make some for outside--I usually like to have things to hang on my side gate and the lamp post, and might need a plant stake or two as well. Better get busy, huh? That is one fantastic teacart. LOVE it. Probably one of the prettiest I've seen. I am hooked on dark wood, so am glad you redid the stuff, really gave it a different look. The screen on the hutch is sooo neat. All those pieces are wonderful, but that is why I think antique stuff is so appealing. I'd buy it any day over 'new'. I saw a glimpse of TJ and see she has changed her clothes. LOL. Teegan hasn't come yet. ;o( I am going to GW hopefully on Friday and see what they have in little outfits. juddgirl2 - I have been on vacation and am now seeing this thread. Now I am traumatized by just reading it! Try putting a freshly cut apple in your sons desk drawers. Leave them inside for a few days. This little trick was giving to us by a car dealer to remove odors from cars. My daughters cat urinated on her back seat. We removed the seat cover and shampooed it, but the smell was still slightly detected. The apple worked, although my daughter forgot about it and it attracted fruit flies! segbrown - If you have the stomach, read my story about our outdoor grill. Beware...it is heart wrenching, but the grill lives on, even though it took several hose and dishwasher cleanings to be presentable for me to cook on. Floor Plan A or B-huge difference-Serious Doubts!!

I know this will be hard to understand... but just looking on paper at the 2 plans I think Plan B does look like it fits nicely-nice walls, openings ,flow ,etc. If I was looking at 2 plans for a NEW home, for some reason I believe I would pick plan B. Seems more 'safe' as well. But I guess Plan A is intriguing since I have been living in this house it seems like the connection to the backyard and patio will be really used frequently and fits how we use our kitchen/outdoors. Yes there are some reservations-some mentioned above in 'what I don't LOVE about it". One of them was my concern in making that back wall with doors and wet bar "wonderful and dramatic" as cilantro says. My fear is we will try this and not get there. I posted the 3d drawing we got from a kitchen /cabinet place and it was quite underwhelming.But with crown ,trim work , proper colors hopefully it could get there. I do think I need a back window in the wet bar-we would love to use this as a 'staging area' for grilling with a pass thru and this is my 'side view ' of the yard from the clean up sink. In previous posts we tried using a walk in pantry to eliminate the 'butler type pantry hallway leading to the office, but we preferred that space open (there is a window in the office and thought that may also help keep things a little 'brighter at that side sink'. If there were additional changes to be made to improve PLAN A I would love to hear more - I know Rhome and bmorepanic helped a bit with that already. I think I would consider taking some space from the laundry room and making the mudroom a bit larger. 3 growing boys that play every sport imaginable could use lots of hooks,cubbies,etc Other things we are considering is 1)either wrapping the oven counter around into the pantry space or 2) having some framing /trim work to transition into the 'butler pantry area' so it doesn't seem like one really long hallway where you are trapped between floor to ceiling pantries on each side. On the left side we may make this a counter with cabs/drawers underneath rather than a floor to ceiling 15" pantry so we have a 'landing spot ' to either load the pantry or for our cell phones or something. Just some ideas...would love to explore more of getting plan A perfected if possible. Thanks....Sorry for the length!

It's a treat to see bright and cheery decorations way after Christmas...
Sure helps get over the long Winter Blues.
I like the two signs too, and was also going to ask if you painted
them. I like all the Cute Valentine Couples...all 'Sharing The Love'. ! Lol
Like OA asked, where did you get the large V Plates ?
They're nice displayed and I can see them in a table setting too.

Nana, DD bought the pattern for the Love Bugs years ago.
She's had one in her BedR for years. I already had these
Love Bugs painted to give for Valentine gifts from before.
I had only finished adding wire to the large one, small ones
still need the hearts wired. So I placed the hearts randomly
on the lg china hutch.

OA, glad you like the china cabinet. I have the matching
buffet and tea cart to this one. Kinda sad but the tea cart
is hanging out in the garage at this point. We bought the
set of 3 for $300 and refinished them. They are Romweber.

DD brought me all of my Valentine plates I own. The name
on the back is Fresh Decor. Hope this helps.

Jane, I didn't paint the signs. DD gave them to me. Since
you asked about the plates also, I did a search and it looks
like they may have come from Safeway. If not my guess
would be she found them at Target, JoAnns Fabrics or
Michaels.

DD's such a great clearance shopper. She brought me
purple snowflake plates and a couple of polka dot sets that
will be fun to share sometime soon I hope.

Very 'whimsical,' punk! I esp am lovin' the buffet w/the XO's & Mine & heart plates & the raised candle undler the cloche & the cute lil' angel. Such a fun & cheery display!

Now, 'love bugs, ...I've never seen them before ~~ so they kind of just snuck into your display, I bet! LOL! They look to be happy lil' critters ... & lavendar colored, to boot! TFS, punk. what fun! Jeanne S

Jeanne, I always have fun while decorating. Valentine's
Day isn't just about roses in my world. Too many fun things
that want to come out and play! I thought I'd shared my
'Love Bugs' before on Holidays but maybe not.

Sooo happy you've come here to post again. May all
this decor help brighten your days while recovering.
We miss you so much. Hope your feeling better every
