Are there any Frigidaire Flair owners
Comments (2)My search on Google turned up some interesting information but I suppose you are already well aware of most of it. E bay, discussion groups of fellow owners on the internet, and trying to contact retired or "senior" appliance service people in your area might work. The manual mentions that all electrical components were the same as those used on the ordinary ranges of the era, so that should help quite a bit. Comments (24)You have a few options for ventilation here. 1.) Using an island-mount hood, as "ctycdm" suggested - since the hood will be attached to the ceiling, you can position it as close to, or as far away from, the wall as you wish. Here's an example: [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/futuro-futuro-products-live-miami-phvw-vp~14589574) [Other[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/other-home-design-ideas-phbr1-bp~r_33) by Brooklyn Appliances Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods 2.) Using an undercabinet hood, after making sure it will provide sufficient airflow (500 CFM is the bare minimum, in my opinion, shoot for 700-1000) and will extend far enough in front of the cabinets to cover the front burners: [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/alterman-traditional-kitchen-new-york-phvw-vp~2948635) [Traditional Kitchen[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2107) by Jersey City Design-Build Firms Brunelleschi Construction 3.) A hood "insert" built into a custom cabinet or enclosure (usually made of wood, but can be stone, metal, combination... go wild): [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/loudoun-kitchen-4-mediterranean-kitchen-dc-metro-phvw-vp~561699) [Mediterranean Kitchen[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/mediterranean-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2109) by Falls Church Kitchen & Bath Designers Cameo Kitchens, Inc. 4.) Use a "standard" wall-mount hood, and bump up its depth by using additional plywood / 2x4's behind it, which will make the hood come out further from the cabinets. Of course, this works much better if the hood is surrounded by cabinets, and the hood itself is a "box" shape, to hide the bump-out. A flush-mount in-ceiling hood like the Broan Cirrus or Futuro Skylight: [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/best-by-broan-cirrus-flat-ceiling-hoodjpg-phvw-vp~4522761) [Other[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/other-home-design-ideas-phbr1-bp~r_33) by San Diego Interior Designers & Decorators Signature Designs Kitchen & Bath [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/ceiling-flush-mount-range-hoods-miami-phvw-vp~20459766) [Other[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/other-home-design-ideas-phbr1-bp~r_33) by Brooklyn Appliances Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods...See MoreRefurbishing 1960s Kitchen...without spending too much
Comments (24)The problem (IMO) with asking realtors about this issue is they'll almost always say you have to get rid of the vintage range. We have a built-in 40" wide Frigidaire Flair (partially working) and we're currently dealing with the issue of keeping or replacing it. I've asked two realtors I know (emailed them photos) and they both said immediately...absolutely get rid of it. I think most realtors view vintage appliances as obstacles to an easy/fast sale. The problem is, your potential buyers may have a different view. It's so hard to know! If you do talk to a realtor, how about asking their opinion about offering an allowance for new appliances and/or cabinetry...and not tackling it at this time? Since it's tied in to the issue of new cabinets, I'd at least explore the idea of offering an allowance. That way you might leave the door open for finding a buyer who likes the idea of having the chance to make their own choices. Edited to say, a really honest realtor might be able to tell you how "hot" the vintage/MCM trend is, in that area, and that would be great info to have. I think it varies a lot from one part of the country to another....See Moreanyone ever use a Tappan range?
Comments (17)Thanks for the info. !! unfortunately, was told it was the 'safety shut-off valve' for the oven ( part model specific & would cost over $300 for a new part & the place here said they couldn't even find that model listed any more!) My husband so far can make it ignite by getting down on his back w/a flashlite & hit the spot a few times in back of the oven underneath & it will start/ignite! I didn't know those ranges back then (1986 our sales receipt says) had those type of ignitions?! The top burners & middle top grill come on & ignite just fine yet! Imagine an appliance now days lasting that long?!! Used to be, the brand name meant something but now with so many changes in ownership, etc. it is hard to tell who now makes a certain brand .... like who makes the stoves now for Sears (Kenmore)?, & our old favorite years ago: Maytag! Thank you everyone for your help!...See MoreCircus Peanut
