Yeah their stuff was amazing - here's their coffee table that opens up to become a hi-fi and a TV projector: But anyway, there's an estalished "grey market" in selling items intended for sale in foreign contries in the US by companies other than the company's authorized US distributor. It's completely legal, and it's how many of us bought our cameras in the '70s through '90s, but you can expect the manufacturer's warranty won't be honored in the US, so you'd have to haul the thing back to Canada to get LG to pay for repairs the first year. After that, since it uses virtully the same parts as a fridge that was sold for many years in the US, finding someone who can repair it, even authorized LG service agents, should be easy. Companies never like grey-market imports taking business away from their chosen importers, so don't expect LG to give you the green light. Instead, call an appliance store near the border, ask them to look at the placard inside the door (or in the use & care or installation manual) and see if there's any reference to American service addresses, phone numbers, or at least UL certification. Some will have US yellow "EnergyGuide" stickers on them, often reversible to Canadian energy guides. you can probably find a dealer along the southern border willing to send one across state lines - especially smaller mom & pop independent shops that need every sale they can get and are less tied down with corporate-HQ policies to follow. If all else falls, plan a trip to Montreal or Toronto - plenty of interesting things to do there besides scoping out exotic appliances.... just bring a truck, van, SUV, or some wagons large enough to hold a boxed fridge, probably on its side.

We have 2 Elux all-fridges and 1 all-freezer. We purchased them in 2007, but moved in in 2008 and started using them. So, it's 6 1/2 yrs later, and we've had no service calls. 1 of the fridge's interior light has a will of its own, so doesn't always come on, and the readout occasionally tries to give me an error code. From what I could find online, that code is related to the evaporator fan motor... But it keeps working and the code goes away. It's done that for a few years now. I haven't had it checked. Meant to at first, but the fridge keeps working fine, so at this point, I'm figuring it's a false alarm. The other fridge and the freezer have had absolutely no problems. I know this is just one family's experience and opinion, and you're looking for more stats for a greater number of units, but I think they're a good bet. The only reason I might not buy them again is the way the drawers are attached to the shelves above so they're a pain to take out and get clean. Maybe they've changed that by now.

A few years back me and the roomate purchased a Frigemore GE Profile and it was a good washer for the times. I have since moved myself and purchased the Frigidaire 2940 with matching dryer before completing the new home I live in now. To the point of the 2nd floor with that unit, it was never pleasant to do laundry because of the violent shaking and the fact it did not balance the load properly prior to spin. We have used those now one year in my brand new home off the kitchen. It was the worst mistake purchase I made in my life and so we started looking here again for advice. I think most people here get off track on threads so it becomes even harder to make the right choice, but there are some very good posts here with valid information. It was either plumb the basement for the 2940 set or keep the laundry closet on the 2nd floor. We decided not to plumb and get something else. My gut went with the Duet Sport 8500 and after one weekend of washing say 8 loads we are impressed. The washer works on the 2nd floor period. There are many fine things about it besides. One more to add is it rinses the clothes very well without the extra rinse being used. I will not get into the dryer game on these again either. I purchased a standard dryer from whirlpool in super capacity size. I don't care for the lint filter in the door area and like it on top. The further away the lint the better and so what if you have to dust off the dryer when done. I do hear that most are happy with the Duet Sport dryers and thats great, but I will not shell out that kinda money again and not be happy with the end results. The Duet Sport washer does not twist up my jeans or anything else and the dryer no longer has to be checked 2 times each load to see if things are jammmed in the vanes. Very happy Sport owner here and thats all I can say.
