I have a huge new tub waiting for install in new master. It can be dropped in or undermounted. I was going to undermount it, but my stone fabricator said it would be very expensive to put stone over the top like Beth's pic above. I can't believe she was trying to talk me out of it. I may use some stone scraps if I have enough left of my vanity top to use on the deck instead of tile with the tub dropped on top. That means four seems, but my deck is small and tile might look odd in such a small space. Beth's tub sure looks great though! I wish I had the space for a deck that big. What color of Ceasarstone is that Beth?

We considered Swanstone but decided to do cultured granite because we needed a custom size, so CG was the least expensive way to do it. It performs identically to solid surface. We do have Swanstone counters in the kitchen, as well as a Swanstone integrated bathroom sink/counter, which were installed in 1990 and are as flawless now as they were the day after install. We used the CG for both a custom neo-angle shower base and surround in the MBa, as well as the tub surround for the second bathroom. We have been EXTREMELY satisfied. Caveats? Put in safety bars with the original design. The walls are slippery, especially when your hands or body are soapy. Squeegee or spray after every shower to avoid soap scum build-up, altho using liquid soap will cut that down to a minimum. CG and solid surface vendors all offer inset shelving units. These tend to be shallow so plan carefully how many bottles users will be storing. We put in two shelving units in the neo-angle, one large one in the tub surround. When in doubt about storage, more is always better! I admire the beautiful tiled showers that people here install, but my DH and I agree if we ever move, we will put solid surface or CG into our next home, too. It is the single easiest thing to clean in our entire home.

Does anyone have any experience with a solid surface tub deck that continues into a shower? I am wondering if the seat needs to be sloped like in a normal shower or if it’s fine being left straight since it’s a solid piece of quartz continuing out of the shower. I understand if left straight we will need to brush the water off ourselves. All the photos I have seen of a tubdeck with a solid surface have been straight. Our quartz fabricator says it needs to be sloped but I can’t find any photos of what that would look like. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am redoing my bathroom and wanted a solid surface tub surround instead of tile or acrylic/fiberglass surround. I found this Corian Ready-to-Install Tub Wall kit. Problem is, I don't think they make the dupont adhesives etc, any more listed on the box. I've been reading into how to install it. Seems like the most are suggesting 100% silicone due to the fact it can flex with the Corian expansion. How does the silicone handle adhering to the Hardiebacker boards? Some are saying to use Greenboard, or moisture resistant wall board. Just looking for any advice on adhering a solid surface (in this case Corian) to hardiboard cement backer board. I'm leaning on going with the Supreme GE Silicone and Hot glue on the corners to hold it in place while it cures. Any experience or suggestions?
