Cabbage placemats

Hi guys!

I don't post her much but occasionally still lurk. I received a new cat. the other day, Grandinroad, and as soon as I saw these placemats I thought of you guys!

I never heard of the company but thougth they'd be great for spring tablescapes and wanted to share!

I've picked up a couple of those along my ways...one I bought at a specialty store & one thrift shopping...here's where I used the 1st one:

Karen--bunnies for St. Pat's? If I show you them now, what will I have to share for Easter! Ha ha I do have a few bunnies scattered around the house and yard, but not nearly as nice as yours. Kareen, I just had to buy that little plate because I loved the verse too. Just figured I would work it into my tablesetting since that is the only place I am decorating! And I will be having DS and DIl over for corned beef and cabbage--but I will have to take this apart and wash everything before that since I've put it up early so I can just enjoy it. LOL I stuck the things on the kitchen table as a whim for the fun of it--but guess what? DH sorted the mail, threw part of it away, put the rest away and didn't leave it all over the table! Guess he thought I might want the table to look nice at least one day! LOL Luvs

Sandi, you are kidding, those placemats on your Easter table were from DT??? Wow, they were gorgeous! I never see placemats at our DT, like I said, the one closest to me is not the best one around, but the others are quite a drive for me, as our the better Joanns. Judith, sounds like your Joanns is as lame as mine. Wonder why they have small, lame ones & then other towns have nice big new ones? There are two north of me, but both are a drive for me, they are both new & very big, the one nearest to me is small & messy & dirty, there are a ton of larger empty storefronts they could move into, but just don't!!! Lime green is my favorite color the past few years, in clothes, shoes, decor etc. Just love that color, will let you know if I see any lime green ones. Home Goods usually has a large selection of placemats, but pricier than DT and if we want a large variety of them, we need to watch our $$$$$! LOL

Ded, I didn't use Sriracha, I used Hoisin and a Sweet Chili sauce. You can use whatever you want. Arcy, it is actually very easy but it is odd. You don't soak, you dip actually. One has to be open minded. Rice wrappers do not look edible. I made one and had everyone taste it before they saw what was in it and how it was made. for example, this particular recipe used fresh mint and cilantro and basil. I was pretty sure my kids would not want all three in one .... so I had them taste it made that way, first. IMHO that combo really makes the dish. Bibb has nice bowl shape and it easy to roll. Hi, 1929! No, it was fabulous though! I liked Spain much better than I expected to ... better than France for example, and the food in Spain was OTT, consistently. Our Morocco trip was delightful and I did not feel even the slightest bit unwelcome, as I had feared. I will post when I d/l photos, and catch up on GW!

BIG HUG to everyone who shared about losing their parents. I feel ya! The problem with losing a parent as an adult is not that one misses or needs parenting, it's losing the history and shared memories that is so difficult, at least for me. And then like Funky says, my mother was such an optimist, joie de vive person, and then she died on a most ordinary day, doing a most ordinary thing and there was no happy ending/rescue to be found. I try and appease my sorrow by continuing on with her traditions. I can't hardly have tea in the afternoon though, because my Mom died at tea time. I know that she was probably planning on making herself a cuppa after unloading those groceries, looking forward to it . . . but anyway, teatime is such a strong tradition in my Mom's family, all the kids of all her cousins tell me the same thing, they have all these memories of teatime . . . We had a memorial tea at the library after Mom's funeral (she was the librarian there) and when I got married in 2018 it was just outside of the area where the family farms were, and we had tea in all their honor. One of my Mom's few remaining cousins gifted me with a teapot that my Grandmother had given her as a wedding present. Then ironically my own cousin died a month later of a massive stroke. I still am haunted by her saying that one thing she wanted to do with me was have tea on Grandma's tea set. Never got to do it, although we did have many teas together. I hope this spring I can find at least one relative willing to have tea with me . . . they are far flung now, I doubt any would come to my house, they never ever have, even when my Mom was alive. Only my beloved cousin would visit . . .

Warning, these are small. I bought them and returned them. I should have read the reviews. When you put a dinner plate on them they practically disappear! Maybe they will listen to some of the reviewers and make them larger, as they are pricey.

Kathleen, if they are the size of Jeanne's I'm sure most of my plates would cover them up also. Sure hope they do come out in a few sizes.

Ill have to get back to you I ended up going for dialysis 3xs a wee,My kidneys failed Im on list for new one,My daughter has been helping me,She rearranges things I cant find them,they werent where I put them uuuhhhh..But I dont dare say anything.

I read on the site that sharee posted the dimensions: Set of Six Cabbage Leaf Placemats (43517): 17" x 13" each.

& somewhere (comments section, maybe) I read where it takes 2 of these for dinnerplates...they are quite realistic looking, aren't they! I like mine for my large bunny! Jeanne S.

Bulldinkie, so sorry to hear about you needing a new kidney and going for dialysis three times a week. Nice that your DD is there to help even if she doesn't always get things back in the right place. Sure hope you get one soon and can spend more time w/us here. We love having new ones joining in.
