Comments (34)karenlee56, When I purchased a GE Profile from Lowes in Nov 2006 it was about $700, also got a GE Washer and Dryer that was about $1500 for the pair. After two months I had to have GE send a tech out about the dishwasher. The racks would not close right (had to push them really hard), and there was a loud whistling sound when it would fill with water. They replaced the rollers on the rack and the water line and pump. A week later the whistle sound was back when filling with water, and then the rack rollers started to act up. So within a year the repair tech were here 6-7 times replacing the same parts. So since I had it all documented, I spoke to the manager at Lowes and they gave me an in store credit that I used for an Electrolux $1200. They had issues installing it, as the side springs on the doors kept rubbing the wood cabinets. So after Electrolux sent a repair guy out, and he said the springs were made too large, I again went back to Lowes and they ended up just refunding it back to my credit card. I was then 2 years looking and researching, and decided to go with a Miele Diamante Plus that was about $1500. After using the Miele for a couple months with their detergent tabs, they ended up changing the formula and it was making a lot of suds. So the Miele techs came out and looked at it, agreed it was the newer Miele tabs that was causing the suds, even though I was using half. I then tried the Finish Quantum tabs, but they were discoloring some plastic items. Then changed to Method Smarty tabs (half) and have been using them for two years now....See MorePlease offer your opinion: Miele Dimension Plus or Miele Diamond
Comments (13)My Optima had the top rack with the left piece that lifts out vs older DW with one-piece top rack. I removed the piece once. Most important to me was that back of the bottom rack that folds down. I also like that the plate-guard rack comes out so I can do a whole rack of pots. What I especially liked was the new config of the second rack, which is flatter in the newer models and easier to load (less sliding around). Also, I'd want that center one adjustable (both mine adjust -- it may be standard). I do use that. I think it's smart to focus on Express. I don't have it on the older machine and it's the one thing I miss. I also use china/crystal a lot but not everyone needs that. I wouldn't pay extra for delay start, anything more than the basic cycles plus Express, the whole sensor business and ultra quiet when regular quiet was just fine. Optima was once described by antss as the "sweet spot" and whatever the current equivalent is would be the same....See More2013 Miele diamond & dimension dishwasher questions
Comments (48)Fragrance from the grapefruit tab remains in the tub. Haven't found any transfer to glassware whatsoever. Method also makes a no-fragrance tab. Interesting that you don't get horrible detergent smell from the glasses by using powder. I hate the powders -- can't stand the smell (though the gel is worse). Tabs are a huge improvement for me. Like it or not, the rinse aid does matter as these machines are designed for its use. (Germans seem to have a thing for surfactants). As someone said on one of the threads, if you want a Miele, and dry dishes, it's necessary to accept rinse aid. Fortunately, it's adjustable. You might have a conversation with tech support on this issue. Perhaps the newest machines are more flexible on this. Everyone's water is different. In your house in may be fine to add extra heat and use Cascade. With my soft water I wouldn't dare. However, at one point they programmed the final rinse to be hotter than normal to improve the drying. With a cold-water hook up, which I have, and the onboard heater, a hotter rinse might not affect the cycle time. Occasionally get filming -- iridescent looking streaks on a glass. So I find it useful to an empty cycle on sanitize to clean out any residual soap every few weeks....See MoreMiele T1515 dryer noisy
