For two years I struggled to keep our tub and shower clean. My husband works in a job where he gets full of grease. Two years ago when we had the tub and shower put in, it was stressed that the wrong cleaner could void the warranty. We tried what was recommended with no luck. It was just terrible. I was embarrassed for anyone to even see our tub and shower. A year or two ago I purchased Mr. Clean 2 in 1 Eraser. I had never tried it before. Ya know how you buy something and it sits under the kitchen sink forgotten about? Well, It resurfaced as I was cleaning this morning. I thought what the heck... I used it on my fiberglass tub and shower this morning. It was a fricken miracle. I really wish I had taken a before and after picture. It looks like the day they put it in new. Please just try it. You won't be sorry. I promise. It took about 10 minutes and it was in bad shape. Mr. Clean 2 in 1 Eraser. =-)

Bad advice for the most part in this thread. Almost all tubs are nicked up in new construction because you need to build the house around it. Repair on fiberglass is just like body work on a Corvette, very simple and you shouldn't be able to see the patch work. Your alternative is to get a tub replacement that will come in 3 pieces and have two seams the whole width of the tub/shower unit. Would you rather smooth over a patch or have two seams up and down your tub? Take the patch work as long as it is done well.

" It’s not obvious to the naked eye but once you really look you can see where it was" The reason you noticed is because you knew that something was there, or you would have never known. Most builders being this a tract home or a million dollar home by a custom builder such repairs are being made all the time if minor blemishes occur on the surface of a fiberglass or acrylic tub, shower pan, etc. The only thing in most cases it will be fixed before a customer will see it and after that nobody will ever notice that anything was there. The only person will know is a person who knows that the repair was done. That said these sort of repairs are done on minor scratches and minor "nicks" that is why you will never tell that any repair was done. If the tub body is actually cracked that would be considered structural and the professionals who do these repairs would never fix them because the tub must be repaired. As the professionals go who do these repairs most work for plumbing supply stores and are certified to perform these repairs by most known manufacturers. They will use the same paint brand and color number so the repair is seamless.

So there is another problem. The door was framed very close to the left wall because we wanted to make sure there was plenty of space for the vanity and it is a narrow bathroom. There is 3” between door rough opening and wall. So if we bring in that wall in, there will be only 1.5” between door enough opening and wall. Is this enough space? Will door be able to open? Obviously, my door trim won’t fit on that side either. Do you still think the best solution is to bring that left wall in 1.5”? Would we have to reframe door opening?
