Have your heard or used Power Maxx Vortex ?

if so - do you think it stands up to their claim of the following benefits I saw from the eBay seller ?

(below is my copy/paste from the eBay...)

The Power Maxx Vortex Generator is much less expensive than any turbocharger or supercharger. Its proven design increases horsepower while lowering fuel costs, and is backed with a 30-day money back guarantee AND a lifetime guarantee.

Better Gas Mileage: The Power Maxx allows your engine to burn fuel more efficiently, resulting in mileage gains as high as 31%. With gas prices constantly on the rise, it will pay for itself in no time.

More Power:Â Whether you have a stock or aftermarket air intake system, you will see a power increase of up to 35 horsepower.

Smoother Shifting: Vehicles with an Automatic Transmission will shift smoother than before

As far as I can tell, ebay already pulled this add. Which is a good thing IMO, stuff like this is junk. The closest it's going to come to increasing your fuel mileage is by making your pocket a little lighter.

Another thing they forget to tell you is the tests were
done with " full open throttle " on a test track. That is the only way they can get enough air flow to get the
" vortex " to work properly. Not the thing normally done on a city or highway commute. A vortex " air cleaning "
system is very commonly used in commercial and industrial
engines with oil bathed air cleaners. All it does is spin
the dirt out which falls to the oil bath. I have one on my stationary engine for my generator. The motor is 30 years old so this vortex thing is not new. Someone just tried to reinvented the wheel. The vortex works best on a continuous
steady high R.P.M. not something the aveage car will do
with lock up transmissions and over drive. A car's rpm is too slow. One thing that puzzles me is how can you increase
H.P. without using more gas on a stock engine ? If i wanted more speed and H.P. i'd take my 500 holly carb off my engine and put on a 700 double pumper and it does come
with bigger fuel jets along with a bigger ventury. As John
says it best, Save your money. If this product was any good
it would be standard equipment on all vehicals.

The kids went to school here today. It was in the teens. Just got a message saying school is on a one hour delay tomorrow. Temps are supposed to drop below zero. It's 11 degrees right now. I had to work the past three days. Saturday was horrible, blizzard like conditions. I drive 25 miles to work. No snow plows out when I left early that morning. I couldn't see landmarks and was driving about 20 mph on the parkway. I ended up going off the wrong exit and had to turn around and get back on it. When I finally made it to the end of the parkway I knew I was going to be late for work and called to let them know. The house super asked how I managed to get where I was because she had gotten a bunch of call ins because the parkway had a truck turned over and it was closed. I must have just missed it. Tractor trailer and a salt truck. Not looking forward to going back this week. I have three more days to work and then I go on vacation. Hopefully the freezing cold weather will be gone soon. A homeless man froze to death in Lexington, I think last week. All the shelters are above capacity and people are going out in the city looking for people who are out in the cold. Not afraid to drive myself in snow but other people terrify me. They drive way to fast for the conditions.

have you heard of or tried a spin drier?

Today I received the Wonder Wash I ordered from laundry alternatives. I absolutely love it! I have a HE set of washer/dryer but I wanted something for those small loads of hubby's work clothes (oilfield - ugh!), vacations without electricity, etc. I played with it for 2 hours and got the washing for 4 people done in that time. Fast, efficient, and even gets the oily grime from the uniforms out! I can fit 3 pairs of MY jeans in it (plus size) and they come out great. 7 M Adult t-shirts and 4 pairs of undies in one load; I only did one set of uniforms at a time...they get really grungy. I'm not saying I will use it all the time, but here are the facts: I did 4 1/2 regular loads of laundry in 2 hours using 12 gals of cold water (reused rinse water for next wash), same amount of soap, and NO electricity. Very easy to turn, did not seem unstable at all. Larger loads turn easier FYI. No leaks. Simply fill, wash, drain, fill, rinse, drain. I used a garden hose. Unit has suction cups to help it stay in place, but didn't have any trouble with that. I set it up outside so I didn't have to bother with wringing out much, just hung straight out on line, drippy wet. It was breezy and 90 degrees...jeans dried in a little over an hour. NO wrinkles. Took about 7 mins per load. Definitely going to use it for uniforms regularly, save my good washer. I did use an old salad spinner I never use from the cupboard (crank of course) to spin out water from socks and undies...works GREAT! I would wring what water I could from them, set the clothes in evenly, gave it a 30 second spin and VOILA! they were MUCH dryer! I am seriously considering a sturdier, larger salad spinner. I would like to be able to do laundry easier on camping trips (2 weeks long) and vacations so don't want to go electric. I figure I can pack clean clothes in both during travel and just set up in the bath...no more laudromats! Considering the success with the salad spinner, I think the regular spin dryer would work great. The same place I bought my mini washer sells some that crank up to 3200 rpm's and can handle about 13 lbs wet laundry. By my calculations, I can only spin the salad spinner at about 700 rpms (every turn of handle turns interior 4 times...can turn handle about 3 times per second if I REALLY try...12 X 60 = 720). Well, there ya go. My experience with the crank-style mini washers is exceedingly good. Definitely worth the total price of about $60 including shipping.

ROTFLOLTIWMP!!!!!! Oh, thanks for the article. What a hoot!!!! I mean, the projection system sounds cool the way you, Mo_sgal, described it. Not gotta have but really cool. Recipe Projection System. Eight in 10 of those surveyed said they cook for enjoyment, and 64% do so at least several times per week. Consumers reported wanting a wireless recipe projection system that would allow them to look up a recipe online, or even say aloud what they want to cook (e.g. "beef stroganoff"), and then have the recipe projected onto a surface in the kitchen from a small cabinet-mounted device. "Consumers reported wanting"???? What the hell kind of survey was that? One at Comdex where they showed it to some gadget junkies and asked if they wanted it? Can you imagine having a controlled survey, Gallop Poll, type of thing where they were asking you what you wanted in your kitchen and you thought, "Gotta be able to say 'Beef Stroganoff' and have the recipe projected on the cabinet!"? Especially considering that any old recipe is not what you need when you're cooking, but something that matches your tastes, supplies, style and skills. I've found lots of great recipes online but it takes a proper search and a lot of forward and back until one finds the right thing. When Mo_sgal first mentioned this I thought it was for personal recipes which one has stored on one's own computer (hence, print a new one). I think what the people in the article are talking about is a Star Trek kind of thing where the computer knows exactly what you want and gives it to you right when you ask. "Computer, look in the kitchen, see what I have, and tell me how to make something fantastic." They have all these kitchen inventory sensors they're trying to market which will tie in. For those who can't remember to look and make a list before they leave for work.

"I do not recall anyone EVER repaying a loan. It was never an issue but now DH is unemployed so it is an issue." When someone borrows money and doesn't pay it back, that's not a loan. I would guess those folks are banking (no pun intended) on you not asking them for the money. I think, for most people, it makes them feel uncomfortable to 'confront' someone in a situation like that. You should not be the uncomfortable one. They should be uncomfortable about not paying you back and having to look you in the face knowing they have no intention of doing so. Putting yourself out there, in an uncomfortable situation, is easier after the first time. I bet if you asked one of those poeple who owe you money, "When are you planning on paying me back?", they'd start squirming. No need for you to explain why you want the money paid back because it was a loan. They owe you that money. You have a right to ask for it. If they give you some blahblahblah about how they're in dire straits right now, I would suggest to them that you're willing to set up a payment schedule. Watch how fast the word gets around that you're not the Bank of Auntnete any more. And if anyone asks you for a "loan" again, all you need to say is, "No". "No" is the most powerful word in the English language. No explanations about why, just no. Plain and simple because once you start "explaining", you've been sucked into the vortex again. Just 'no'. Practice saying it a few times in front of a mirror...see how easy it becomes ;o) Baby steps, baby steps....one thing at a time to help get your confidence and assertion back. Asking for the money will not only benefit your self-esteem, it will help with your financial situation. You and your DH deserve it.

thanks guys, for your candid advice.....
I am not the one who normally go and buy all the after market 'additives' or stuff .....
however, it is also nice that every once a while, to have some experts like yourselves confirmed what I believe in ....
which is - that most of the 'new advertised' stuff is not really what they claimed they were.......
btw - no thanks Gary, I had already spent enough money 'into' the car, I really don't feel like to spend anymore dough to get stuff out unless its absolutely necessary........... ho ho ho --- wish you all a happy and safe holiday.... :-)

My dad put several different amazing gas saving devices on his car. Â The combination of fuel savings & the atom fuel generator started bulging the gas tank so bad that he had to put some bullet hole decals on the gas filler door for venting.

Vortex cooling is part of the design in some super and turbo' chargers for efficiency.

Mikie said "Vortex cooling is part of the design in some super and turbo' chargers for efficiency"

I am familliar with "intercooling", which uses a radiator type component to cool the compressed air before it enters the engine.

There are many things that I don't know, and I am always looking to learn something. Taken at face value, I'm not ready to jump on the idea that a vortex in the air entering the engine will cool it. The two stumbling blocks IMO to this idea, is first where does the heat that the air is supposedly giving off go? Second, a vortex by description means you are spinning the air. It takes power to do that, because of friction, and the fact that the air has mass (which is very measureable). Friction causes heat, so my first expectation would be that adding some kind of a vortex would in fact be more likely to raise the air's temperature entering the engine.
