Some places in the US are having nice weather.

But I think most of the country is experiencing Bad Weather Fatigue.

It has been overcast, dreary and snowing again today.
I've had enough!!~~

So to help chase the gloom away I set a bright and sunny table

Oh yes Nana, this table is so cheery! Love the yellow and white
on this tablescape! Reminds me of sunshine and that's what we all need to brighten our winter days. Thanks for the SMILE.

We are suppose to get more snow any day. I'm hoping it goes
around us.LOL Alot of ours is melting but we're still getting
little spiffs that cause slick roads in the mornings.

I love the bright yellow and white accented with yellow butterflies, true harbingers of warmer weather. Your goblets go perfectly with the setting. Thanks for adding a little sunshine to a grey day!

You sound like me when I first planted my BB and KO's last summer! lol. I have around 7 KO's and 1 BB. When I received my BB bush last Spring it said to keep it in the pot until Fall, and to plant it in the ground before a frost. And that's what I did and now the plant is several feet tall and wide! The KOs really do need as much sun as you can give them. Mine get sun from morning to night but I think they'll do well in 5-6 hours of sun. This is a new bed we built this year, so excuse the messiness of it, we'll make it better looking next summer. It's near our barbed wire fence and on the other side are weeds from a small pasture area. The red knockout on the left we planted last year, and it doubled in size this year. The other KOs were planted this year. The yellow Rose is the one that's just now starting to bloom. I have the other KO's in my other flowerbed. And they love water! Butterfly bush which is just now starting to bloom. Looking down the fence line.

Hello All, I am new, but I will do what I usually do and jump in with both feet! I am happy that you are a peaceful man, hope that this helps. I don't know of a blue jay repellant, but I can offer some information for you in addition to that already provided by the others. I also came up with a couple of alternative bird you could dislike instead of the jay. One alternative is the Europian Starling, introduced by man, and began to spread over the whole country. They compete aggressively with native birds for nesting. Birds are in enough trouble from of loss of habitat from mankind. (you can prevent them from taking up residence in your birdhouses by making the entrance 1 1/2 " or less so they can't get inside the joint.) The Cowbird is another alternative to bluejay loathing. It sneaks into other bird's nests and lays it's eggs, making the other bird do all the work. The field guide called it parisitizing and the cowbird affects about 144 species altogether and some are threatened with extinction altogether. The cowbird is only doing what it has always done, only we changed the playing field and the combination is lethal. Back to the BlueJay. The jays fly around in courtship flocks in the spring follow the leader style and give a variety of calls. (acording to Stokes Field Guide these flocks are made up of several males and leading the way one female. When they land the males start bobbing raising their whole body up and down, while giving the "toolool" call. Good News, they are quiet during breeding. They also dive bomb hawks giving jay calls. I don't know if a "scarehawk" would work, it would scare off the other birds too and you don't want that. One more thing you could try, is to lure the jay to another area of your yard. The jay eats acorns, nuts, fruit, and it comes to feeders for sunflower seed and cracked corn. You could put sunflower seed (black oil I think) and cracked corn on a feeder away from your window. Jali, when I emptied my rain gauge on Wednesday it had 1.4” in it. When I emptied it yesterday morning it had another 2.4” in it! Flood of '65, indeed! I emailed Barb last nite to let her know I had arrived safely—tense, but safe—and I mentioned the Flood of '65 to her! She's not old enough to remember it, but I am! It rained, like this time, for a week or whatever and everything was saturated—and then, like you said, it DUMPED and that was all they wrote! All the bridges in/out of Denver on the west side of town but ONE washed out, including one that was just a couple years old and had been built for a “500-year flood!” I have pics of a span of that bridge laying in the middle of the Platte! Huge sections of I-25 and the train tracks between Denver and the Springs washed out! I still have the newspapers from right after it with all the pics! But I hadn't stopped to think that this was the 50th anniversary of it!!! Cherry Creek Dam was still new back then, and there was near panic on the news that it was going to break—they were releasing water as fast as they could. I lived in an apartment about a half a block from Speer and we were listening to the radio so we'd know when to RUN—and then the power went out! I'm still here—so, no, it didn't break! And 25th anniversary of the Limon tornado! Wow! Some years to remember! Guess you remember that one well! What I remember was I was watching TV weather and all of a sudden the radar went down! Switched channels, and no radar! Switched again—nobody had radar anymore! That's when we knew it was “serious!” If the Limon radar was wiped out—what else in Limon was wiped out! Wasn't long and the channels were picking radar up from the airport, and that's when most of them switched to doppler! Memories! I've been watching Denver radar today, and the forecast, and at least it looks like this is about the end of it for right now, so, hopefully, no repeat of '65! It's worth the money to buy good, large amaryllis bulbs. They are far more likely to re-bloom. My two favorite are Cherry Nymph and White Nymph. They are double blossoms, multiple ones per stem and multiple stems. I pay about $18 for one bulb and it will rebloom for several years if treated properly. It's a lot of bag for the buck.

Thank You Punk and Fun,The snow and grey days are really starting to get me down. At least my table is bright!!
It was supposed to warm up today with a slight chance of freezing rain for a short time this AM
well since about 9AM it has been snowing like crazy, and the roads are awful. The local school has canceled PM preK and is keeping the AM prek all day.
The sky is brightening as I type this so I hope the worst is over.
Wow Mother Nature is having a heck of a good time this winter Who would have thought she is a winter person.
Or is she sitting somewhere in a warm climate laughing??

Mother Nature is in Southern California and she's having a field day! It's like summer here. We're having one of the worst droughts in recorded history. Farmers are having to sell their cows. Farm hands are being laid off, as there are no crops to tend. The weather is beautiful, but it's creating lots of problems.

Yellow was my mother's favorite color. I remember her saying, "You must have a little touch of yellow in every room in your house." As a tribute to her, I have tried as best I can to do just that. An apothecary jar full of fake lemons sits in my living room. A little red vase with some twigs full of small yellow blossoms sits on the coffee table in my family room. A funny little yellow picture frame is on my nightstand. Yes, yellow is cheery, and your tablescape just shows how true that is. Nice job.

I hope the worst of the winter storms are over soon.

It is touching that you pay tribute to your mother by adding yellow throughout your home.

Very cheery, nana! Yes, sunshine colors! The place settings are so very pretty ...is that a weaved 'coaster' under the little top bowls...whatever it is, I like the 'division' it makes between the whites.

Your candlelight, flowers & butterflies sure make the center of your table pretty! The flatware works perfectly on those yellow place mats.

Been cold, nasty here, too ~~ but, cheers .. & lets send California some rain! Price of milk will be going up I just read somewhere. Droughts are terrible! TFS, nana. ~~Jeanne S
