Winter Decor becomes Valentine Decor
Comments (9)Thanks ladies! Karen, I have to agree - my DH is pretty romantic and I get flowers quite often throughout the year - even on non-holidays! Prosperity, my colleagues at work do appreciate when it is my coffee week and the extras I do for them. I enjoy it and it is fun to have another table I can set! Luvs, the faux snow comes in packages labelled as such and is found in quite a few local stores around Christmas time. Kathleen, your snow is GONE??!! We will have ours for a long time yet - good thing we like the winter activites like skiing. I am anxious to get out my St. Pat's stuff too! Jane, not sure how "clever" I am at making the winter decor into Valentine decor - more like "lazy"!! Susan, I can't imagine winter with no snow! Sometimes, when I have to snowblow the driveway so many times, I think I might like to try it for awhile! Mo, everytime I go skiing, I wish I had my camera - it is so beautiful up there, especially on the sunny days which we seem to get a lot of lately. Comments (5)I think that tip #6 is especially interesting.... I've never heard that about overloading the tree bottom with ornaments on purpose. Then again, I'd bet that whoever suggested this tip does not have cats! :) Did I ever tell you about the time I made gingerbread men to decorate the tree? Every day I'd come home from work and find a cookie or two on the floor broken -- but I could never fine their heads! I eventually saw her do it: my cat would knock a cookie off the tree, eat the head, and leave the rest. :p So, is there a tip about WHERE TO PLACE A TREE within a room??? I have a 24' long LR, but it's narrow and one long wall has a large bank of windows across the middle, as well as a door. I've tried placing the tree in the far corner, but it seems so out-of-view. I've tried placing the tree on the opposite end, centered on the other short wall near the door, but it seems to be too "in your face", IYKWIM. I'm tempted to try placing it more in the center of the room -- near those windows -- but does it make sense to do that if the furniture has to be changed some to accommodate it???...See MoreWhat is your favourite tip for Christmas Decorating?
Comments (47)Thank you again everyone for your wonderful pictures and virtual descriptions. I am not sure if I can get a bow around Buddy or for that matter if he wouldn't eat it before I got a picture. Whenever I take pictures of something in the house or outside he seems to get himself right in the way. It will be fun trying. I had a very good day yesterday. I put up my fibre optic tree and hung mirror and faux crystal ornaments. Did put my bows on the chairs. Tied bows around my lamps and I will finish the black tree today along with some other things that came to me overnight when I woke up at 2:00am to let the dog out. I even brought out things I haven't used and have had for many years. This year DS's Lego has been relocated per request by him to the Living Room which means that the tree will be in the family room. It will be a little different and as always the Lego will clash with all the purple. lol. He told me he would put it away till after Christmas, but I told him it was okay. It was a minor thing. Off to finish the tree. Linda...See MoreDecorating after Christmas?
Comments (23)I do have some advice on what NOT to do. I am a person who is always cold. Not the biggest fan of winter and lack of sun and warmth. I have discovered that I enjoy winter more if I DO NOT have decor of cold items, like snowmen and the like. So today we packed away the Christmas items inside (yard is still decorated outside) and we are cleaning and getting ready for NYE. I have some real forced bulbs, and sparkly crystal, brass, silver items out, and will use silver and gold linens and lots of candles. Once the New Year's party is over, the plants and candles will stay out. It will be St Patrick's Day before you know it!...See MoreBunny
