I,ll try to post pics this weekend with DH to help. . Cabs are natural maple, slab doors. Old kitchen had white cabs, white soffit, white BS, white Formica, white walls because I never got around to painting. Charming, heh?! Right now I'm feeling like the 42" cabs are closing in the galley but I hope this is just because I'm not used to it so it just seems a liittle jarring. I thought floors were a soft gray, but they are more taupey looking under these lights. I am stuck with everything so I will learn to like it! No going back now! Christine....can you tell about your fireplace insert...that is next on my list and I know nothing about them. Hang in there! Yes, still a lot to be done here but cabs are a big turning point, then granite and appliances. I at least think it will move faster now. ahhh, I remember sports practice and homework....in the blink of an eye your kitchen will be done and your kids will be in college! It only feels like forever!

Sorry, guys! The granite was installed Friday morning but I had to give my computer to the IT Department Friday afternoon due to a computer problem. Just got it back tonight. My3dogs, nestingthyme & newhomebuilder, thank you for your time in letting me know about the link (which I saved and printed), problems with Kenmore in the past and now problems with the GE Profile side-by-side. I found out the Sears gas range is made by Frigidaire. I bought the Frigidaire gas range from PC Richards tonight near 11 PM when they were closing despite not liking the warming drawer's knob on the backsplash area and not liking that I have to bump into the center knob to reach the buttons on the back due to my very petite height of not quite 5 feet. The rebates and sale price was too good to pass up if I regretted walking away so I asked if I could have until tomorrow until 7 PM to decide if I want to switch my order to buy the GE Cafe 30" gas range that has everything that the Frigidaire has but the bottom drawer can be used as another oven or as a warming drawer and all the controls are on the front so I can reach them easily and there is a probe that will register in the front letting me know when the food I am cooking reaches the correct temperature. It will be so much more money (despite PC Richard's sale price of $700 off their very high retail price and then the stainless steel venting hood will not be free) but I keep thinking I would like it better. Maybe the button on the Frigidaire will not bother me and maybe it is not so bad to have to lean onto the front button to reach the back controls? I guess I am used to controls on the front of the range like my Whirlpool has with just the clock in the back.

Cracks can occur at fissures. And fissures can exist on their own, without cracking. That’s a normal part of stone. Repair of any of that, crack or fissure, is never an issue, unless they lack blending skills. But looking at your pictures a second time, the cooktop cutout has a sharp 90 inside corner. That is prohibited in all stone manufacturing. All inside corners should be radiused, to avoid stressing the stone. That sharp 90 is what caused that to crack. Reinforcement of epoxy will just shift the stress elsewhere. That will crack again, just in a slightly different adjacent spot.
