As for the carpet (I'm presuming you want wall to wall not an area rug as the floor seems unfinished in certain areas), to suggest anything it would be nice to know what you furniture looks like colour wise and style wise.

Is bed in that location just until room is painted (which looks like is needed) or can’t accommodate any other configuration? Perhaps a smaller dresser and a closet organizer would go a long way towards providing more space to move bed’s location. Curtains: if privacy is required black outs can’t be used during the day so will need blinds or sheers as well. Decor/accessorizing: bedding is a good jumping off point and paint the room last. Look on Marketplace, try Target, second hand stores, Walmart and Amazon. Look on line for inspiration and suggest using neutrals for the basics, adding bluish/grey accessories..
