Want to see my leprechaun plaque?

Painted a leprechaun from a free pattern Anj posted on the Painting forum. I'm really pretty happy with the leprechaun, but will redo the sign--I tried doing it freehand--big mistake! Hope he makes you smile. Luvs

The shelf is not heavy duty, so I did not want to add a concrete one. This is a fairly cheap plastic job from the Zehers - a Canadian grocery chain. The wasps protect the Gargoyle from theft!

I just want to pop back in and say thanks for all the ideas. Love the purse hook idea especially, because there is definitely space for that! The others...like TVs and fish tank...there's just no space. The waiting room is small -- basically a square about 10'x10' with 6-7 chairs and a bookcase. All windows on one side and a reception desk on the other, so no logical spot for a TV or fish tank. I like the idea of mobiles on the ceiling in the treatment area, will look into that! The dr. has a large collection of art/prints all by the same artist that he wants to use, so they will be hung throughout the space. There is one wall next to the open doorway to the treatment rooms -- it is about 3' wide and the wall perpendicular to it (to your right as you enter the treatment room) is about 4' wide. So it's a little corner spot that I need to use in a way to "stop the eye". (The dr said some patients like to peer down the hall to the treatment rooms -- from their vantage point in the waiting room -- and say hello.) I thought about a tall tree decal because that would be big and colorful and take up a lot of space. Other ideas? It can't be a coat rack or coffee machine because we don't want people congregating over there (it is just beyond the reception desk, maybe 9-10' from the waiting room seating. Depending on what's left in the budget, I could also see about getting an artist to actually paint a tree there. (This ties in with the dr's art collection, which are mostly landscapes.) What do you think?

Now ..... what do you mean, "big mistake?" I think you're nuts. You hand lettering is just fine. Stop being silly.

Luvs, he is adorable, great job on the painting and lettering! It must be so wonderful to have the talent to whip up such terrific themed decorations for each holiday...I would love to be able to do that.

Mistake? Hmmm, perhaps she means that she wrote "St. Patty's Day" instead of St.Paddy's Day. That's what I thought she meant. Still, that's a wonderful sign, Luvs!

This one was a bit of a "stretch" for me, faces are not my favorite thing to try to paint. The sign was a last minute thing I added on--not part of the pattern--and haste makes waste. I don't like it and plan to sand it off and print out some neater letters on the computer for a pattern saying "St. Pat's Day". Not a big deal, but I think I will like that better.

DD, it is fun to find a project to create for the holidays and seasons--and believe me, if I can do it, anybody can! You should give it a try, you have such a good design style, I'll bet you would be really good at it. It's like coloring, then you just add a little darker color to shade and a lighter color for highlights and that adds some dimension.

I finished a little rose tray too, but won't post it here since Valentines is past. It's on the gallery at the painting forum.

Thanks for your confidence in my "design style" skills, Luvs but they absolutely do not lend themselves to painting or anything "crafty". You definitely "lead the way" in that department and I'm happy to just admire your creativity. Of course, I'm "GREEN with envy"!

Splendid! Luvs, I saw some plaques in WM and they are nowhere near as pretty as your's. He is so darling! Even the shadow under his hat and the twinkle in his eye! His rosy cheeks look kissable. Such detail.

Good to have you back Jane. Glad you and DD50 liked him. He was a bit challenging, faces are not my strong point, but this pattern was so cute, I just had to give it a try.

I sanded off the little sign and have repainted it to just say "St. Pat's Day" and I like it much better now.
