Faux Stone Fireplace

Our new house is now 4 years old and we want to change some things in it. One thing we want to change is the fireplace. The fireplace is a Lenox wood burning fireplace. It has a wood facade now with drywall from the top of the mantle to the ceiling and we want to change it to stone, including the part above the mantle to the ceiling which is a 19' ceiling. We didn't plan for a stone fireplace, so I think we need to go with faux stone due to weight concerns. Can anyone recommend faux stone companies? We want limestone like in the picture in the link (which is the first picture that I got when I googled "limestone fireplace"). We have window seats on either side of the fireplace. My husband wants to extend the stone from the fireplace across the front of the window seats. Does anyone have pictures of a fireplace/window seats like that? I'm concerned that that might be too much stone, or else that the stone might be uncomfortable for your legs when you sit on the window seat.

We used Coronado Stone, but the important thing is to find a good installer that can work to try and create the look you want. Ours had samples of faux and real stone, and even had mixes of the sizes and colors from all the sources to show what it can look like. We ended up with an 80/20 mix of two colors.

We just had this done. There are many brands of synthetic stone on the market. Owens Corning has the biggest share of the market with their Cultured Stone. This stuff is used for fireplaces all the time. Check out their website for nice photos. I know that if you want the stone to go inside the actual fireplace (the box where the logs are) they use another product in that area (the lady I bought from said "fire brick") but the synthetic stone is used all around the opening to the fireplace. We have real stone on the top of the hearth -but that was for cost and aesthetics. We had ours done and I am not happy with the workmanship-the stone however is very nice. We didnÂt use the Owens Corning-rather we went with a local manufacturer. I can hardly find a repeat and my fireplace is 14 feet tall and 8 feet wide.

Ok - I'm back, and hoping to pick your brains once again... While at a thrift store this week I stumbled across a sofa for $75 and am seriously thinking of getting it for our new home. I have it on hold now, but am wanting some opinions as to whether you think it is a style that would look well in our new living room (and what is this style of sofa actually called, BTW?), and if so, what type of chairs, rug and draperies would best go with it? My brother is inheriting almost all of my Mom's living room furniture, so, other than a vintage Indian brass coffee table of hers, I will pretty much have a blank palette to start with in that area. The sofa is in almost pristine condition - just a little piping trim on the lower part coming loose, which I'm sure can be re-glued, and a very, very slight fading on the upper rear part of the back cushions, where the sun reached. I am assuming the good condition of the sofa is due to the fact that it apparently had a slipcover on it at some point - which also is in awesome condition and was included in the price of the sofa. The sofa is a greenish-yellow pattern. Here are a couple of pics of the sofa (please excuse the photo quality and that lump of fabric piled on the sofa, which actually is the extra slipcover.) We used Centurion, Arizona color, a mix of Cutface and Ledge.

If I am picturing it right, I think putting the rock on the window seats would be very nice. Seems like it would pull it together. We also used it on two interior walls, in our sunroom. Ours isn't rough to touch, so if your legs rubbed it, I don't think it would cause any discomfort. But I can picture how it would maybe stick out a little. Maybe you could put a wider seat top on the window seats?
