SJP, Don't dread.....is there anyone in your area that sells a heat matt for plants? If not look them up online....It is the HEAT that makes them root...The warmer the soil temp, the faster it will root. If you are not interested in using a heat matt, then take your cutting indoors since it is getting cooler out, it stick it in the sunnniest window you have. If your cutting is in dark colored pot, the sun will heat the pot up which in turn will heat your soil. Just keep your cutting warm with lots of lite ok...It will do fine... I would not water it though. Don't let any water touch your cutting unless you know for sure you have roots. Water at edge of pot instead if your soil is bone dry ok. Mike

Shaughnn-- I even took precautions. 1983 We did the lobby of a corporate office building (Echlin Industries, Branford, Ct.-- new construction) and the helpers who grouted, did a terrible job. My father sent me in on a saturday with a buffing machine and a full 30 gallon carbouy of muriatic acid, and told me he didn't care if I had to mix it 1:1-- get it clean. I wrapped and vasalined every metal surface anywhere near where I was working, opened all doors and windows-- took all precautions, and although I didn't have to go as strong as 1:1, I DID have to go to 3:1, and that was strong enough. I can't even imagine how bad the fumes must have been in an enclosed area full strength! Anyway. Monday morning, I'm on another project, and the job super comes and grabs me mid morning to let me know to call the office (back before cell phones, obviously). I called my father and he's going nuts over the phone, telling me I better get down there, that there's a problem. When I got back to the job, literally 150 feet from where I'd been working, a brand new stainless steel water fountain was a nice bright orange. Permanently. $1600.00 out of my paycheck, when, as a union apprentice, I was making just under 500.00 a week.

I would like to use up all the stained glass pieces and full sheets I have by making a back splash along the wall under the cabinets and over the sink on one wall. I have never done mosaic and I am not an artist or as creative as you all. I don't even know where to start! I want to be able to remove it if we sell the house and the buyer dislikes it. I have opaque pieces, pieces with wispy colors, clear colored, textured pieces, and a lot of clear glass with differnt patterns. I have some cut in one half inch strips and 4 X 4 blocks. I have odd shaped pieces from when I actually made stained glass hangings. I even have some cut in diamond shape and some that are still full sheets. I have almost all colors. I can't even remember why I have some of it. I am thinking of something with a pop of color and want to introduce rusty red and purplish red into the color pallet. I have many questions about the process as well as needing suggestions for the mixing of the sizes, textures, and colors. Is there anyone out there who can give me some advice? Should all pieces be of the same type of glass? Should the pieces be cut to the same size and shape and then fitted together? Should it be like a crazy quilt with all different types, sizes, colors etc? Should I mount it on plexiglass or some sort of cement board (I don't know what that is) or perhaps in frames of some sort. See, I really am helpless. I wish there was a pattern with it all spelled out. I would rather follow a pattern than make a mess of it. Can anyone help me? Thank you.

Please help me choose between these 3 grout colors. The contractor is installing Ardex epoxy grout, and these options are the finalists. It's a 3x3ft shower, with tiles in this picture: 12x24" pure white tiles and this mosaic at the top - probably 10" tall niche the length of one wall. The 3rd wall is a pony wall. This is the current tile and wall color that is not changing. And if it matters, the current floor tile and new shower floor tile with its grout.
