Hello: You should not have to remove the glue. Use a good underlayment with a moisture barrier and you will be fine. Laminate Flooring is extremely forgiving.

I'm looking for the same answer. A local, independent home improvement store warned that heavy, mirrored bypass doors with a floor track would buckle the floor if it's not free to float when the door is attached to both the hardware and laminate, subfloor, or substrate and the floor expands without allowance. My closet opening is unusually wide at 96" so the doors would be heavy. I am loathe to drill an oversized hole into the Pergo "Outlast" for either bypass doors or replacing the original, lightweight bi-fold doors and and use a washer for the center bi-folder door point. Bi-fold doors are lighter and the advice I've found is to glue door guides towards the middle of a track if hanging doors, or affix a track on the floor held with double sided tape if not a hanging door. Check out STX primer. My local mom & pop hardware store carries it. They have a sample of the primer painted on glossy 4x4 tile. I took my nail to it and couldn't scratch the primer off. I've never used it, so I don't have the details on the primer. I'm not sure if it's oil or waterbased. Google it. I'm sure something will come up. I've been checking into Rustoleum's Specialty Countertop Paint. It's formulated for laminate countertops, so I'm sure it will work on laminated backsplashes too. The box says it can be tinted to 16 different colors. You can see the colors on top of the box & online, but they may be hard to judge. They'll send you up to 3 color samples. I've seen it at both Lowe's and Home Depot in section where they carry the spray paint. Good luck!
