Welcome too_many_pets. Sal is so right, everyone here is very friendly.
I decorate for St Patrick's Day, but I don't have any photos yet. I didn't get my digi cameral until after the last St Paddy's, but I will take be putting my decos up just after Valentine's Day and will take pics this year and post them at this forum.
Well, I will be posting one pic today of a fairy & a couple of ornaments I have bought and a few I've painted, but it's not much. Everything else is still packed away.
If you have any ideas and/or pics we would love to see them.

I decided it was more fun to take pics and post them than to clean house this morning. ;~) If you look at my Valentine's Decorations post you'll see the white "dead" tree I use to decorate for most holidays.

As I said, my St Paddy's decos are still packed away, but here's a pic of what I have recently bought or made. The ornaments will hang on my white tree and the fairy will sit in a tablescape. You can't really see it, but the bigger gold ball has "Whitty" (surname) painted on one side of it and a shamrock on the other. Sandi

Welcome to the forum, Too many. I thought I had already replied to this post but don't see it--must have hit the wrong line or something.

I like to do corned beef and cabbage too. I have very few St. Pat's decorations, but I will probably put out what I have. I saw some darling Irish girl figurines when I was out shopping the other day, and there are some plates out too. I have a couple of leprechauns I cut out of wood and painted. I'll post pics of them here when I dig them out of storage.

Sandi, you have some very cute ornaments. Those will look really cute on your white tree.

Too many, we hope you will post pics if you decorate for St. Pat's too.

sandi....very cute ornaments I agree that they will look cute on your tree. I saw St. Patricks day type of plates at TJ Maxx, some were a soft yellow with little clovers and a raised basketweave design along the edge.
Too many pets ...I'm sorry...I don't have much too add because I don't really decorate for St. Patricks day...I go from Valentines day dircetly to my Spring and easter decorating...:)

tamgypsy, Those plates sound perfect! I was just in our T J Maxx and they didn't have any St Paddy's plates. They did have some Irish decos out so maybe our store won't be getting any plates in. :~( I'll keep checking though. Thanks for letting me know.

I only laid out 1 of each style of ornament I painted, but I have about 30 of them so with my "real" Irish decos, I should have enough FOR THIS YEAR! LOL

Every year in early Feb we go to a small town about an hour away that is called "The Seafood Capital of the World" and eat fresh seafood. There is a huge tourist store there, but the back 2/3 is holiday items. I usually only get to buy about 3 before I've reached my money limit as they are kind of high. Last year I bought the 3 Irish ornaments above. This year since my Valentine decos have gone missing (I know they are in that storage shed) I will probably buy for my Valentine tree.

Too_many_pets, we would love to hear and see your ideas for decorating.

Sandi, I was at so many stores the three days before we left on this trip. I know there were St. Pat's decos at Marshall's, and I think I saw plates at Home Goods, but they were sort of a lime green with a design on them.

I really liked the ones with clovers and pink flowers in that clipping that Judith posted on the other thread. Bet you liked them too because of the pink. ;o)

Luvs, I did see the St Paddy's plates at Home Goods, but they just weren't what I wanted. Thanks for the tip on Marshall's. I went there today, but didn't see any at all. And you're right, I do LOVE the ones Judith posted.

I don't deorate for St. Pat's Day, but I know a couple of the girls here do, so you'll get some advice from them.

I saw quite a lot of things at Big Lots, Ross, TJ Max, and Target.

Look for some greem metallic fabric to put on the table, and then you can go from there. ;o)

Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but it will probably involve displaying my 2 pieces of Beleek. I know Bordallo has some pieces featuring shamrocks as well. I want to plant some shamrock seeds in a pretty pot, but I need to get on that soon. I'll post pictures when I get it together. BTW Patty-Cakes..."too many" really is TOO MANY...2 dogs, 5 cats, 1 rabbit in the house, and 2 ducks who live outside !!

too_many_pets, We only have 1 dog, but 20 goldfish and koi. The water babies are way more trouble than my lab, but I love them all.

I didn't know what Beleek was so I googled it. I saw some very pretty pieces. I hope you post pics when you get it done.

I don't decorate for that day, I guess, it has never played a factor in my household, since I am originally Canadian, I never lived in Canada, but both parents are canadian, so there is more "french" in my blood than Irish I think, LOL

I found a very pretty Godinger pitcher Tues. at TJ's for 6.99 Lovely shape, cream colored with shamrocks. They had a larger one for 12.00. I have some Beleek too, they were gifts, it is very expensive stuff! I mentioned in another thread that I was born in March, so always received something Irish for my birthday over the years. I have quite a collection of Irish things. Some of them aren't table decs though! My sis, who goes to Ireland yearly, has service for 12 of the Beleek. It is just lovely!!

I was at Ross today. They had three little leprechans for $1.99 each, but each of them had chips already. I seriously considered a rather large resin leprechan that I thought was sort of cute, but decided i needed to save my funds for more versatile things. Then I ran on over to Michael's. They had some really nice ornaments. Some were stoneware, there were shamrocks, leprechans, pot o gold, and a hat. Others were glittery ornaments. Liked both kinds--luckily I didn't have any place to hang them! Whew! LOL

Home Goods has some St. Pat's plates and things too. They have a bright lime green background--not my color and again, I need to use my funds for more versatile things right now. Just thought some of you might like to know what is out there waitng for you! Okay--don't throw anything at me--I'm through with this post now. Ha ha

Home Goods had some china B&Bs that were ivory with small shamrocks on them. I think they were gold rimmed, but our store only had 2 of them. They were really nice though.

I am going to Michael's to check their St Paddy's decos. I am so glad that Michael's is way across town from me so I can't go too often. LOL

I bought the green glass B&Bs and huge matching mugs at Walmart to use for St Paddy's. I think they call it sage green. I'm going to mix them with either my white or black dishes. I've had my eye on some very inexpensive clear glass stemware with green stems. They don't quite match, but if I decide they will blend I'll probably buy them. I want to use the large green mugs as bowls. I would love to find a standing "pot of gold" to use as a centerpiece.
That's as far as I've gotten with my St Paddy's table so far.

Kathleen_li, I missed your last post earlier. How lucky for you to have been given so many Irish gifts. And your sister must set a beautiful table. The Beleek is just gorgeous and way out of my price range. I haven't seen the Godinger pitcher at TJ.s, but it sounds very pretty.

I don't have these dishes but these are the ones I saw at one of the TJ Maxx stores here. They had them with their St. Patricks day decorations. They are Bordallo just like the cabbage plates. I don't decorate for St. Paddys but I really Like these dishes...LOL

tamgypsy, Those are pretty. Our TJs had only a couple of the plates. I guess they had already been sold before I got there. :~(

On my, must have that Bordallo !! I think it's just as pretty as Belleek!

Oh, I really like those. Haven't been to TJ's yet--in fact, I can't think where ours is--but I know we have one in one of the nearby areas.

I haven't decided about doing the table special for St. Pat's. Really been spending allot on the Valentines and Easter stuff already. Have to see if I run across a real bargain. Had thought about just some clear green plates from Walmart.

Speaking of green, did any of you see all the green stuff on Tenderheart.com? I really liked the green chargers that were on sale. And some of the glass items were really nice too.

Luvs, I really like the green chargers and they are a good price. They look like the same ones that Big Lots sells so it's possible they may get them in sometimes. I really liked a lot of the bottle green glassware.

Right before Christmas I found a very expensive little gift shop near me that has the same chargers in a pearl pink, but they wanted $5 each on sale. I keep meaning to go back and see if they've marked them down more. They had other colors also, but I don't remember what they had.

Hi Sandi, Sometimes, I feel a little discouraged that I can't just buy what I want when I want it--but then again, it is so great to find a bargain price when things go on sale, isn't it? Besides there's always the thrill of the hunt! Ha ha

My concern now is that I am not buying too many things that I can only use once a year. I think I will try to keep the seasonal things to under $5.00 each for the most part. I think I have pretty much done that with everything except that large cabbage leaf plate-it was $9.99--but I rationalized that I needed a bigger one so I could put a dinner plate in front if I wanted to. Really would have loved to have four of them to use on the table--maybe I'll find them on sale for less sometime.

Oh, I just fibbed. The new bunnies I bought yesterday were more than $5.00 too. I will probably use them year round though--I love bunnies and display some in my house already.

I ran over to Walmart real quick today. Looked at the green clear glass plates to see if they might work for St. Pat's in case I decide to decorate the table. Actually saw some other plates that were a darker green that I liked better.

Didn't see any colored glasses tho. I also looked to see what they had in white plates. Good prices, but I still want to look a bit more before I decide on those. They had two patterns that you could buy individual items instead of having to buy the whole set. If I can find an inexpensive set I like, I might be able to get some ivory ones too.

So far, I still like the red plates you found at Target the best--can't believe I need plates in so many colors now! LOL Just have to take it one thing at a time and not get frustrated. It is lots more fun to buy patterned holiday plates than plain ones, isn't it? ;o)

$5.00 each for those chargers doesn't sound too bad to me right now--the goldish ones at Walmart were more than that, and their woven ones weren't as inexpensive as I had expected either. Hope that little shop still has them and you can get them for just a couple bucks each. ;o) Good luck.

Luvs, Big Lots should have the gold and silver chargers 4 in a package for $10. My gold ones came from there. I was really disappointed with the few chargers our Walmart had. Not much of a selection at all and I thought they were too high also.

I bought the clear green glass. I didn't see a darker green, but they did have some ironstone looking green dishes. They do have good prices on the plain sets and I like that some of them can be bought piece by piece. I haven't seen the ivory there though.

Try Target for the pink stemware. Two in a pack for 6.99. I really liked them.

This is what I have so far for St Paddy's Day. The green glass salad plate and mug came from Walmart, the ramekin from Home Goods, the flowers from Old Time Pottery and the green stem goblet from Dollar Tree. I'm not sure about the goblet as it's on the blue green side, but hey, they were $1 and they are the only ones I've been able to find & I like them. The flowers are darker than they show here and they have a touch of pink and yellow on the edges which I love. I forgot to take pics of the napkins, but they are green and white striped. I'm going to use my white plates (I have an idea & if it works I'm going to use my black plates) & gold chargers, gold flatware, etc. I am really thinking about adding slight touches of pink & yellow to the table. We'll see as it gets closer.

Sandi, I like it all. What a deal on that green stemware--I need to go check my Dollar tree for that. It doesn't look blueish at all in this picture. Yes, those are the same dishes I was checking out at Walmart. Love your flowers and little ramkin with the clover in the bottom too. Sounds like you are good to go on your decorating for St. Pats. I must have shut down my comp before you posted this pic. You are on your way to a lovely setting. Thank you for offering to help with the pics. I got this new comp for Cmas from my ds and I am still trying. It has a port for the chip from my camera, but I am only getting 2 shots. I will keep trying, and then you can guide me from there! It is very sweet of you.

Luvs, for me part of the fun is getting the bargain! Too easy if you just go out and buy without any thought to the cost Up until a year or so ago we had a DANSK outlet in town. Every few months they would send out post cards with a scratch off %age. If a friend got a 50 off, the word would go out. They let you use the coupon over and over, and didn't mind if you shared it. Needless to say we all bought much more than we needed, and have boxes of it stored in the basement on shelves. They had beautiful things, then they were bought out by Lenox and eventually closed here. I wish they were here now, so I could get some of the things I have seen in all of your pics.

I pulled a few more things off of the storage shelves. Here are my little leprechaun guys. The rainbow one is really old (needs some touchups). I made about eight of them and we used them at the teller windows at the bank where I worked. I only have this one left--all the tellers wanted to keep one! ;o) Luvs
