I'm bummed out that nobody has answered this post!

We decided on the Kenmore DD's about a year ago when we planned our kitchen, but we've been waiting for a sale like this (or for scratch'n'dent at the outlet store) and thought surely SOMEONE would be loving theirs by now...no one?

The old original black DW we're using barely cleans anything so I'm ready to move along! (we have to pre-wash and then separate bowls by two tines or they won't clean.)

I am frustrated that no one has answered either. The sale ends tomorrow, and they only do the 20% about 4 times a year. I had the salesman calculate the price with tax and a 5 year warranty, and yikes! It was $1700! Base price on the higher modelin SS (on sale 20% off) was $1280 alone, and then for me 6% sales tax, plus $280 (or close to that) for the warranty. They charge another $75 delivery and haul away but you get a rebate for that. As we will not be starting demo until at least June, we wouldn't have it hooked up right away, but that is another $200!! OMG! We are now talking about a $2000 DW!

I am having second thoughts...I love the idea of these units (we have a small kit with small aisles), but geez, is it really worth that much money? I could get a regular one and pay for my Rohl Shaw sink instead....I guess I have to figure out my priorities.

Choosing appliances makes me crazy!

BTW, I wish I had your current DW- our OLD 18" broke about 4-5 months ago, and we didn't replace it bcs I want a full size one, and in the current kit in won't fit. So, we have been washing dishes by hand. Not a big deal to some, but I would rather clean the bathroom (and I have a husband and two boys....).

Hey BTW, I posted also on the thread about where your screen name came from- that is pretty neat that you flew C-9s. Once upon a time in grade school I wanted to be a pilot- I idolized Navy pilot Beth Huber. A good friend of mine also wanted to become a Navy pilot, and did. He is now flying F-18's (was F-14's until they were decommissioned) and is also a test pilot-on the NASA track. I have such an admiration for the pilots, and also everyone in the armed services. Thank you for your service.

I wouldn't worry about missing this 20% off sale. Sears has them all the time (I hope that I haven't been looking/watching/trying to choose over a year!!). Personally I'm waiting for the 30% off friends and family event. That might be about 4 times a year. I was in last week and the salesperson thought there was one coming up this spring. I plan on ordering once that one hits and will just delay delivery for a couple months if need be.

I haven't heard about that one! When is that??? Is it at all Sears?

I have been sitting here this afternoon and am thinking that $1700 is just insane for a dishwasher (when it is only a Kenmore). I could get a Miele for that!!

I may just end up getting a GE Profile, as my Dad's company has a direct account with them, and I can get about 40%-50% off. I did that with the french door fridge (wanted the Jenn Air), but cost won out in the end.

We're paying for our remodel (sloowwwwlyy) in cash and a DW (or DD) was a low priority. And that is a lot of cash for an "unnecessary" appliance.
But, I will say, that I posted a lot of questions about dish drawers on this forum and a couple others (America's Test Kitchen has an appliance thread on their forum that's up to 40 pages or something) and went with my DH to study the Kenmore and F&P DD's in person, and decided that was the way to go. I can't remember exactly, but I liked the Kenmore because it has an upper sprayer thingie that the others don't. And it's the only one not built by F&P like all the other brands are.
I think the only drawback is if folks have really big dishes, so they say always take the biggest dish that you'll machine wash and try to stick it in there. These are the same people who cry because they can't fit these huge dishes in their 12" upper cabinets. We basically use Corelle every day, so it's not an issue.

I'm still happy with my second set of FP drawers--different house; they didn't break on me! I don't think the upper spray is that important since you only have one layer of dishes, but the Kenmores do have an attractive sleek look going for them.

I love the idea of these units for a number of reasons, but I just can't justify the cost. I would rather spend $700 on a DW and spend the "savings" on a 36" Bluestar RNB which I REALLY want. Maybe in a few years there will be a lot more choices, and price points.

I get notification of the Friends and Family sale via email. Sign up for sears email offers online. The friends and family event is usually on a Friday from 6 - 9 pm. I asked if I could come in earlier and have all the paperwork filled out and was told I could. Now, I still haven't finalized my choices but I have them narrowed down enough that once I know about the sale I'll check prices and current offers and go with the best deals.
