Dishwasher Help: Bosch v. Fisher & Paykel vs. Other
Comments (4)I just want to say that I absolutely LOVE my F&P dish drawers! They are exactly perfect for our needs. It's usually just the two of us, so using just one drawer is ideal. When it's not just the two of us, it tends to be lots and lots of people. In that case using both drawers and being able to start one while the other isn't yet full or being able to generate more clean dishes at the same time as we're using others has worked beautifully. Each drawer holds way more than half of what my old KA DW held, so together, the two drawers hold way more than a regular DW. It takes awhile to get used to loading them, but once you do, you can fit in an amazing amount without interfering with its cleaning ability. I find it amazing that it took this long for such a revolutionary but obviously needed change in DW design to occur, but now that it has, I will never go back to the old shin-banging door and clumsy racks....See MoreFisher&Paykel vs Bertazzoni? Comments (2)The drawers work for my family of 4, but you do start to lose the advantage of the drawers if you easily run one big load a day. They do hold a lot though, and staggering small loads might work better than doing less frequent big loads. It's much easier to get someone to unload a drawer than a full size DW. You'll get used to whatever you have I suspect. I don't know what the advantage of stainless over plastic is, really, aside from sparkle...that's the least of the differences between drawers and traditionals. I can say that F&P customer service is really nice and responsive and you talk to a real human quickly when you call them (my stupid installer threw away parts...)....See MoreDishdrawer - Fisher & Paykel, Kenmore & Kitchenaid USERS???
Comments (19)I think the point many of us are trying to make is: 1. The dd's would not be on the top of the "quiet" list but they are very quiet. DH and I can stand in front of our dd's while they are running (including the bottom one) and carry on a normal (in sound level) conversation without feeling as though we are talking over any noise. In fact, I usually don't notice the dd's running at all unless I actually focus on listening for them---i.e. if I'm wondering if I remembered to turn them on. The "noise" means I don't have to go over and eyeball the control panel to find the answer. The noise is not at all comparable to our old dw either in decibel level or in quality--rather than a loud clank it's a low hum. I actually like the hum and find it comforting. 2. My first priority is convenience and functionality and the dd's, in my opinion, are so far above the traditional dw in these categories that the noise discussion becomes moot. After 3 1/2 years I still find using the dd's a pleasurable experience rather than a chore (and I still smile everytime I open a just-washed drawer and see all the sparkling dishes nestled inside.) As for the issue of 2 single drawers mounted higher or stacked drawers, I would never go with the 2 singles since I like to stay as flexible as possible. Many other dw models would fit into the same space our stacked drawers occupy. I use both drawers equally often---I stagger the use so that they will get the same wear. I want them to last as long as possible for both financial and environmental reasons. Dd's are already so much more convenient than a regular dw I don't see any reason to go the extra mile to have 2 separate top drawers. I'd rather load/unload a low dd than spend the time doing specific excercises for maintaining flexiblity. Sometimes I think our choices can be swayed for the wrong reasons. Some people might read this thread and quickly dismiss dd's because they have a misguided notion about the noise. This would be a huge shame because they may never get to the point of realizing that the design could be a revolutionary change in their kitchen (it was in mine.) The dd's aren't the right choice for everyone but a decision should be made based on all the factors, not one factor that might not be an issue at all....See MoreBertazzoni vs. Fisher & Paykel Gas Ranges. 2019
Comments (81)After considering many high end ranges, I settled with a FP (48”). It was a nightmare. Long story short, the range came with a malfunctioning gas safety valve. After dealing with their New Zealand based customer service (which was not good) and having their local certified repair company attempt to fix it, it was still no good. After 6 months they finally tell me about a regional customer service manager in the area...not sure why they waited so long. He was good and was able to get me a new range. It’s the newest model and we just baked with it for the first time. It vents extremely hot air from the back vent when the oven is on....seems to be a safety hazard (see photo). It’s a good looking range, but I wish I had spent the money on something else....See Morepamela928
