Removing Glued-on Mirror?

I want to remodel our very small powder room. One of the things that bothers me is the large mirror glued onto the wall over the sink. It goes from wall to wall (34 inches) and there are no clips or fasteners of any kind showing so I assume that it was glued on. How do I remove this without breaking the glass all over myself? Also the light fixture was installed through the mirror. There was a hole drilled in it. I'll take all suggestions.

A friend had the same situation recently. She only paid around $50 for a professional glass and mirror installation company to do the work and felt it was entirely worth it due to the potential danger from the breaking glass. This is Florida so it probably costs more in New Jersey.

Ditto.
We DIY a great deal around here, but when it came time to take down the very large mirror, we called the glass company.
They made quick work of it, disposed of the glass, did not make a mess and charge about 100 for a 5'x6' mirror.
A trip to the emergency room for stitches will cost you more, even WITH health insurance.

Were another story of a large mirror falling. We live in centeal Florida. Our home is relatively new- built in 2017. I was downstairs with my kids when we suddenly heard a loud thump. our latge double sink mirror help up by 6 globa of glue had fallen down ans shattered everywhere. like every one else whos experienced this, im grateful no one was in the bathroom because if anyone was they would have been seriously injured. Im reading rhat mystic glue is standard, but a study should be done because i the cases where the glue fails, real damage happens. the mirror tore a while through an adjacent wall. image what that same piece of glas whould have done to a person, an artey, a bone. This is a deadly failure! it has to be looked into. we’ll be removing the other mirrors in our home and replacing them something bolted and secure. its too scary and costlt not to!

The glue they use to adhere the top to the cabinet is stronger joint than what is there in the top construction. Simply buy a demo crow bar and hammer it in between the blocks and counter NOT the block and the cabinet. It will easily break free. Particle board is weak and will splinter into pieces. If you have a saw you can cut out the center of the counter giving better access to the blocks. Also you would be separating smaller sections. Fix your valve you can flood your entire home.

Wow that is a "bubble-gum in a long haired cat's fur" type of mess! Yikes. The quietwalk was supposed to be the vapour barrier. Ok...it happens. Someone tried to double up on the moisture resistance. In theory a moisture resistant adhesive should have been enough....but someone decided to double down and glue down the QuietWalk and then glue the wood to the QuietWalk. The issue is the quiet walk is not strong enough to 'stay together' when you pry up the wood. This is a mess a hardened professional would cringe to take on. A DIYer is going to struggle mightily. G&S offers great advice. The beer being the MOST important part ;-)

Removing glued pipes

The reason the person who installed the pipe to wrap around the condensate pump was to create a P-trap. It looks ugly but it works. The problem is everything is glued together and if a clog develops you won't know about it until it is too late and you have to cut the pipe. I second the recommendation of adding a clear EZ Trap. You will see the clog develop and it is easy to open and clean. On some models a clean out brush is supplied. Usually coil cases have two threaded connections. Yours has a third unthreaded connection so a PVC can be glued into place. The drain should be at the lowest point. The second connection allows you to install a condensate alarm. This is wired so that if the drain is clogged the water level rises to the second connection and the alarm shuts down the AC. This prevents a flood and forces you to clean the drain. EZ Trap also makes this condensate alarm.

Macawmom - I am linking to a thread on the subject of removing a glued-on mirror. I had them in my bathrooms (they were a popular look in the late '80's/early '90's). I hired a local mirror/glass company to do the removal, and I am very glad I did. Better to leave that sort of job to the experts, rather than risk shards of glass if you try to remove it yourself. And it wasn't too expensive.

Thank you all for your suggestion to call in a glass/mirror company. I had no idea that they would remove a mirror. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to remove it without breaking it all over myself. Thank you all again. I will be calling a couple as soon as we're ready to move on this bathroom.

Andreaplume2 - as mentioned in my linked thread above, there is some drywall damage. That can't be helped. But it's not that bad. Typically if you're going to remove a glued-on mirror, you're likely going to want to paint anyway. The drywall damage I had upon the mirror removal was some scratches, dents and shallow holes, but I needed to paint anyway, and my painters patched the drywall in their regular scope of work No Big Deal. The painted walls were a HUGE improvement from my dated wall-to-wall-floor-to-ceiling glued-on bathroom mirrors.
