Lubrico Warranty Company Experiences?

I recently purchased a used vehicle that came with a 3 month warranty through Lubrico Warranty Company. On Friday the vehicle started making a clattering sound under the hood so I called them and they told me the nearest garage to take it to. (the guy at the garage said probably something with the cam shaft, wouldn't be able to get to it until Monday)

I'm just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this company and what their experience was like

I do not advise in favor of the purchase of "Car Repair Insurance" AKA, the "extended warranty".

The problems that I have run into with other insurance programs include. Denial of claims based on the owners ability to provide maintenance records. (not a problem if we do all of the maintenance, but then again when we do get to do all of the servicing the cars don't normally fail). They require customer to authorize the dis-assembly, and then they send out an adjuster, who may or may not authorize the repairs. If they do, all is fine. When they don't the car is still completely torn apart, and then the "I'm not responsible" dance starts, with the shop (me) caught in the middle. The Insurance companies try and cut the shops profits by attempting to force used parts that they acquire to be used, and/or attempt to cut the labor rate. The Insurance companies often tie up the shop with paper work that adds to the actual time the shop has to invest in the repair. Say the repair should take two hours, and the shop loses an hours worth of productive time dealing with the insurance company. That's three hours of effort with only two hours revenues! Many shops have been cheated after everything else has been accomplished by the insurance company cutting the final check short. They will claim they don't pay for one thing or another, meanwhile the car is picked up and the shop has no way to recover these expenses. Because of this when we do repair a car with one of these policies involved, we insist the customer pay up-front for the repair, and then they get reimbursed by the warranty company. The list of other issues could go on for hours worth of typing, in short I recommend. Take the money you would spend on the insurance and put it in the bank under the best returning CD you can find. If your car breaks, you have most if not all of the money required to fix your car in the CD. Now maintain your car completely, and correctly, and WHEN your car does not break, that money is still yours to do whatever you want to with it.

Remember this, they would not sell this insurance if they weren't making a profit from it.

Well the warranty that came with the car was free with the purchase, so that's already paid for. As for the proof of maintenance, I've only owned the vehicle for 10 days, so I'm not worried about that.

The thing that is nagging me is the proof that it wasn't a "pre-existing condition". In which case I'll be taking the vehicle directly back to the dealer, as the vehicle inspection came from their third party mechanic. But the vehicle ran fine, no noise or anything, for a week and almost 2000 kms.

The source for our appliances sells RepairMaster extended warranties (the last time we purchased from them they sold National Electronics Warranty). Daven asked about them in his original post, but I don't believe I saw anything posted as far as experiences with them, etc. Does anyone have anything specific to share? What about purchasing an extended warranty independently? Are there companies I can contact on my own to purchase what may be a better policy (or an equally good one at a better price)? Has anyone here done that?

Ok, so here is the deal after talking to the people at stainless-sink.com.........several times.....they were pleasant to talk to but they wanted pictures to confirm my claim that the sink was in fact about 19 gauge (between .98-1.03mm) and NOT 15 (1.8mm)which is a difference of almost half as thick. . I sent the sink back, and was given a full refund. However, My call tag that they issued for the return was more than 10 pounds underweight, I was told that they should take it and if there was a difference ups would bill them for it, but my local ups store would not take it. Luckily my ups driver did take it, but this could have been a huge hassle since they did not seem willing to issue a new tag with the correct weight. long story short, I got my refund. My final impression of Stainless-sink.com and the "15" gauge sinks is that I don't think that they are trying to scam anyone. I think no one ever took the time to break out their micrometer and verify the thickness of the material. I ended up buying a sink from another ebay retailer who just happens to be close to my home. They have the exact same sink, marketed as 15 gauge, but after going there to measure it found it to be the same 19-20gauge thickness. The sink that I ended up purchasing a different sink that is 16 gauge but was also advertised as 15 gauge. NONE of these "15" gauge sinks are truly that thick. The old saying "you get what you pay for" seems to hold true here. I ended up paying 375 for a (ebay #390325693007)........however I opened several boxes of various models before I chose this one, and they were almost all the thinner material (19-20 gauge)........ I still don't think that they are a bad deal for the price, they just are not nearly as thick, or nearly as great of a deal as they are advertised to be. as for the rusting issue-I'm still finishing my kitchen but cannot comment, I did decide to go with a 1" radius sink instead of a zero radius because I figured it would be too difficult to clean and also would make it easier for water to sit in the corner and if there was a rusting problem, that is probably where it would be. I bought from "contempo living" in el monte, Ca has been in business now for about 10 years and said they haven't had any issues with that............. Time shall tell.

I have never heard anything good about any home warranty company. Years ago when my wife first got into real-estate she bought a contract for her elderly aunt. About six months into the contract, the aunt's clothes dryer started venting into her apartment. When the service guy came out, he told her the repair was not covered under her "standard" contract. He then put her on the phone with a sales person that preceded to upgrade her to the highest level plan they offered and renewed her for another year. She spent well over $400 that afternoon, plus the deductible for the installation of a new dryer vent hose. What is even slimier, they didn't charge her credit card, instead they debited her cash account and signed her up for automatic renewal. Unfortunately my wife did not find out about this until her aunt tried to cancel the service and get her money back. Apparently the company refused to cancel the contract. My wife was horrified when she learned about what had happened to her aunt and since then has never recommended that any of her clients ever buy a home warranty.

They look like a European window design and the absence of a double-hung version confirms that impression. I would be worried about service and warranty. If you want large sized windows the Marvin Ultimate Double Hung (especially in the Magnum version) can be made larger than anything you would be likely to want. If you are looking for large inexpensive windows I doubt you are going to find them from a well known manufacturer.
