Recessing DW's into wall to fit flush w/ counter (?)...

Hi - I'm wondering why this would or wouldn't be a doable solution to a dishwasher being too deep for a particular counter space. As far as I recall (I'm out of town at the moment) our counter depth is 2" less than the average (so if 24" is the average, ours is 22"). I was planning on having the GC bump out the counter to the left of the sink (already bumped out) but it will look asymmetrical w/ the other side of the sink and either way - even if I make it symmetrical - it will appear to partially block a doorway (the eye may see that, even though there's enough space that the door will open) so I'd really like to avoid bumping the counter out if possible.

Also, when I was looking at Miele DW's the salesman said they were as deep as all the others. Are some Miele DW's deeper than others? I have to admit, it didn't look more shallow than the KA I was also looking at...and I know the KA is supposed to be something like 25 1/4 deep - deeper than most.

Thank you...
