shower door question

I'm having a kerdi shower built in my remodel. Two of the sides are 48", and one is 31". The opening is the angle between the 31" wall and the 48". We are using 2" x 4" for the curb rather than the schluter curb.

I've been looking at putting in a framed shower door (hinged) with a small side light, 6' tall . My local dealer came today to measure and gave me a price of around $950. He told me the clear glass was the cheapest, so that's what I had asked him to price.

This seems rather high to me, being that there are no corners or fancy bits. Am I totally out of touch?

I'm thinking now I might ask the carpenter to build me a wall the width of what the sidelight would be, and just do a door. Granted, it would be a wall at a 40 degree angle (approximately)that we would Kerdi and tile. I don't know if that will really save me any cost.

Thinking out loud I guess. I'd like to avoid a shower curtain. Any thoughts?
