glass shower door question

We just ordered our shower door. We're getting a frameless set-up, but we were told that there will be a metal "trim piece" (?) on the bottom edge of the fixed section of glass. I'm sure I've seen pics where there is no trim on the bottom edge (most recently in redroze's thread about her calcatta marble--an inspiration photo).

Is it possible to have no trim at all (or at least no metal trim), and if so, what would we request?

Our set-up will look much like the one I've linked: click on Shower Doors, and then click on Door and Panel. The door will have the clear pastic (silicone?) "sweep," but the piece of glass next to it will have that thin piece of metal along the bottom edge that I'd prefer to avoid if it's possible.

Here is a link that might be useful: Door and Panel
