A little visit, with photo link

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to pop in a bit, I certainly have missed you all. I was going thru some of the threads, there is such alot of talent going on!

Life gets in the way sometimes, my cancer reoccured last year and just about did me in this time. But after a miserable chemo (is there any other kind?) and major surgery, I am finally getting back to feeling human again.

I haven't been doing too much photography with design over the last year of my recovery, but I did take a few pics from this Christmas. If you go to the link and scroll down to my "White Christmas" pics you'll see a bit what I was up too.

Gosh, I'm so sorry that you are battling cancer again. I wish we could find a cure for that nasty disease. I linked over to your beautiful tree...absolutely gorgeous. I enjoyed reviewing your 2012 pictures, too. I love how you used the lady in your table setting.

Judith, I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have you here and sharing photos.
I am so sorry to hear what a terrible year you had and all you've gone thru again with the cancer. Last year wasn't good to quite a few of our gang it seems. I sure hope
2014 is a lot better. Sounds like you're off to a good start.

Did you get your remodeling done before you had to deal with Chemo?

This has to do with pictures that belong to other people and websites where people are paying for the bandwidth that they use. Like cell-phone minutes, sort of. If, for example, you go to my website and see an orchid picture you want to use on your website. There are two things you can do. First option is to simply copy it to your website. If you don't have permission, that is simple theft of intellectual property but is not an actual out-of-pocket expense for me. Second, you can put the full URL of the picture in you web page. That is not only theft of the picture, but doing it costs me money, because every time it is loaded by anybody in the world, it uses my bandwidth. Insult to injury, so to speak. FYI, on Snapfish using Firefox, if you put the cursor over the picture, right mouse click and select "Copy image location" you will get the full URL. Paste that in the browser and you will see the picture. Snapfish probably wants people to see the photos on their page not included in other web pages. I see their point since they are selling a service. It may be your picture, but it is their bandwidth. BTW, I am incredibly easy with giving permission for my pictures if they are copied and I am given credit as photographer. Ask, tho, non-commercial purposes only especially not eBay. ;-> Back to posting pictures. If you have your own pictures on your own website, then add links all you want. Use a photo editor to reduce the size. I do many of my pictures 432px (6 inches) wide with a quality level of 4 (the low end of medium).

I'm glad you all enjoyed the photos - the garden is even prettier in person of course! newyorkrita - I asked Mr. Bennett about ordering daylilies and he said that he doesn't have much left in his selling bed this year, but he could put you on his mailing list for next year. (I wasn't able to buy Wild Cherry Wine because he didn't have any left to sell this year.) Sue , I am so glad you DID come on friday.And I cannot thank you enough for taking and posting the photos. I just have to focus on getting a dig. camera,and I will make it a priority. However...., we have just returned from this long b'day weekend(Paul McCartney's was yesterday, and mine was today!)with a packed, and windows steaming, VANLOAD of trees, shrubs and perennials- from some of Connecticut's great nurseries(and some WONDERFUL gifts from Sue,Monique and George!)And we must get them in the gardens before the horrid heat hits. So far, it has been a very long process getting out the word about the gardens being open may through october 24/7,and that people DO NOT have to call or reserve; that they can come WHENEVER they want!!!i guess everything new just takes time to get known. Anyway, it pleases us no end that you and judy and others have come just recently, as Dudley and I both feel that this year is just the best it has ever been here. I really do feel that TIME is such a major factor in allowing one to reach a place of significant non-nitpicking satisfaction with one's garden. We are in our 17th year here,and it has really been just the past year or two, that I have finally felt more satisfaction than dissatisfaction. Honestly. So please everyone, come ahead, and bring friends! The quote over our street-side gate entrance is "The Way to Have What We Want Is To Share What We Have". Visited Miele showroom yesterday - good news for Little Giant lovers!

Here's a W1 during the Steam Smoothing portion of the Shirts cycle. Steaming is clearly audible at 11:00 minutes. The video says: "A video of the first "Shirts" (and a few stray socks) programme in the Miele. The Twindos got everything nice and clean, and using the stains option successfully removed some tough make up stains. The Steam Smoothing at the end seemed to work a lot faster and more furtively than my previous machine - steam was flowing out of the detergent drawer!" Here's the matching dryer steaming at 2:25 minutes. "Tried the "Steam Smoothing" programme in my Miele TKR 850 WP dryer today and very pleased with the result - no need to iron! These shirts were previously in the "Shirts" programme in the Miele washer which smoothes them with steam. This programme in the dryer sprays them with further water before drying. The dryer uses water for this from the condensed water container - since water is drained out directly to the sink I've had to purchase some distilled water to put in this - the manual strongly advises against using tap water high in lime content, which mine is. At the end you'll see the shirts came out relatively wrinkle free- certainly fine for work wear. I might still iron a special occasion shirt thought ;)"

I'm so sorry to hear what you had to go through again....
Hope you're on your way to a better start with the new year.
The last I remember was your 'massive DIY ' project.
I was amazed by how large of a project you took on.
With all you went through was it ever completed.? If so, please share

Judith, I'm so glad your feeling human again after all you've been threw last year. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful table again and Christmas photos.

You say your tree didn't photograph well and I think it's Gorgeous!!! Your white tree made me go AWE... Loved seeing all the Christmas pictures you shared. The reflection on the coffee table is stunning!

Sure hope you continue to feel better. Will be sending prayers your way. Thanks again for sharing and know that you are a wonderful inspiration for all to follow!

Fun2behere, thank you, I am glad you liked my tree, I always hate taking it down, the room looks so plain after all that glitz. I did "dress" my lady again this year, but didn't grab a shot of it. She's become a tradition with me.

Karen, and Jane, thank you for the welcome back and I'm glad you liked the pictures.
Hmm, some of my remodel I have progressed on, but not much. Alot/most of my extra money is tied up in paying for the 3 years worth of cancer medical bills I have/and ongoing medicals that are associated still with it. So, my remodel is VERY slow going.

Punk, thank you too, I am happy you like them, I almost did not do a tree this year, but I figured it is healther not to give up on things I love.

Judith ... so beautiful ... love all the whites & silvers & the glass ~~ very, very classy...am so happy to hear from you again (IDK if you remember me, jeannespines) Anyway, I've always enjoyed you & also Cjim's very elegant decor over the holidays! Whenever I see an elegant bust, I think of you. I have a friend who also decorates w/one after seeing yours many yrs ago.

I also am having a 'massive' surgery soon & have dealt w/chemo the last 5 of 6 mos ... & have been told I will have 6-12 more mos of chemo after surgery (the thought is unbearble) ...but...you popped into the 'Holiday Forum' as an 'angel' (in my book) ... creating more 'hope' for the rest of us who are dealing with health woes. Yep, decorating the "Lady" is fun, she wears the jewelry much better than I ever could, she has such a long slim neck. LOL.
Ah, I can definately relate to your chemo and surgery. But I know you can do it, it is hard but just try to take one day at a time. You WILL get thru it! :) There is always hope and promise.
I hope you have someone at home to support you through this. I did not have a person at home for me, but I did have my little dog Toby, he licked my tears away more than once, thankgoodness for our pets!

What beautiful decorating, all of it! To all you cancer patients and cancer survivors....as a survivor I have some idea what you're going through although I didn't have to have chemo, just radiation. My mother had cancer 3 times and died at age 99 from old age. You can do it, too!! You're all in my prayers. It's definitely not an easy thing to go through.

Judith, I can't tell you how wonderful it was to come here and see your post! It's been wayyyyy too long, and I hope you feel well enough to check in more often. I am so very sorry to hear it's been a tough year for you, but please try to keep your spirits up, and we're always here to help and listen. You bring us such joy with all your creative talent, and if you feel satisfaction, you can only imagine our satisfaction when we see a thread you've started!! lol

I haven't been to this forum for quite a long time, but am sure happy I visited! Keep coming back, Judith!! WE'VE MISSED YOU!!! ;o)

ps....will we be seeing pictures of the re-model?
