Kitchen Aid Architect Series for everything
Comments (9)I am going to chime in on this one as I was looking into what other folks had to say about recent Kitchenaid products. I have purchased a wall oven, a wall microwave, 48" side by side fridge and a 36" gas stove top. These appliances have been in service since Nov 2010. While the Kitchenaid Canada's service line is adequate, their products are not in relation to the price paid. The stove top has had problems of ignition from day 1 with the two most powerful burners.(Left and right front) Service has replaced, ignitors, a valve and the piece that has the holes for the gas. While this has fixed one, it has not fixed the other. In my mind, if you turn on the knob to "lite", darn it, it should lite but it does not until you play with the knob til it works or I just take a lighter to it. The most inconvenient episode was just this past weekend when the fridge stopped working. I knew something was up, when I started to hear funny beeping sounds for over a week and sure enough, the fridge died. The tech came this morning, and said that the fan compressor was defective, which then shorted out the logic board. He said this shouldn't happen at all. Thus, I have to agree with antss on the comment of "lots of sizzle and no steak"...See MoreGas range: Frigidaire Gallery, GE Cafe or KitchenAid Pro?

Comments (8)LWO...Now I'm a little concerned. What do you mean you can't recess the range? Is there some danger in snuggling the back of it up to the studs without the drywall there? Fouram...If you're making compromises, you CAN always make the compromise of a limited top drawer. In my case, the back counter (with the range on it) is 2" deeper than normal, and as I mentioned, the drywall is cut out behind the range. I particularly like this because I didn't like that little oven vent thing sticking up. So I had a niche built into the wall above the range, with a soapstone shelf put on it. The soapstone extends out over the top of that vent gizmo (which vents forward, not up, so the airflow isn't impeded.) Then the drawer is cut a bit short of full-depth in any case, in order to accommodate slots cut into the back of a butcherblock countertop above for knife storage. And I use the drawer to store my food saver (which is infrequently used) in the back and in the front are aluminum foil, plastic wrap, ziploc bags, etc. I can easily access all of them without opening the drawer all the way. Should I NEED to get the drawer out, I can do so by temporarily popping off one knob on the range. The door of the blind base corner cabinet swings to the left and clears the oven handle easily, as does the magic corner organizer inside it. Should you decide to compromise with a lazy susan, be sure to look into what's called a super susan....essentially two independently turning susans...one on the floor of the cabinet and the other on a fixed shelf above. The hinged cabinet door is still a PITA, but the susans themselves are awesome...huge storage space and easy access to everything. No poles!...See MoreELECTROLUX ICON FREESTANDING DUAL-FUEL RANGE or KITCHEN AID
Comments (6)Hi AreBe, fellow Torontonian here! I have a dual fuel Kitchen Aid range – probably the predecessor to yours – it has four 15,000 BTU burners. Mine is almost 12 years old, so I don’t know if it will help you or not, but I have had zero problems with it. Oven temperature is true, although I don’t always get evenly baked cookies if I am doing more than 2 sheets at a time. Then again, I don’t make cookies often so maybe it’s me and not the oven. Coincidentally, my neighbour has exactly the same range as me and she has not had problems with hers either. I am looking to start my kitchen reno this fall and have been agonizing about whether to keep the Kitchen Aid or go with induction. It was an upgrade from what I had previously and has really served me well....See MoreILoveRed
