wait for ka kude60sx (led display) or buy bosch dishwasher?

I'm planning my first kitchen remodel and have found this forum so useful, I'm hoping someone can help with my dishwasher decision. I really like the LED front display that is on the Kitchenaid KUDE60SX, but I haven't seen it in person yet. I like that it is quiet (43dBA), bigger than the Bosch (16 place settings), has a 3rd cutlery rack and has a water softener. A local store can preorder it for me for $1200 and I would get it in March. I usually rinse dishes and think a quick wash cycle would work well for me, but I think it sounds like the KA cycle time is a lot longer than the Bosch? Should I be concerned about the vent?

Or, I am also looking at the Bosch SHE68P0. I like the full LCD text front display (but prefer the look of the KA) and it is almost as quiet (44 dBA), but smaller (14 place settings), 30 minute quick wash, but no 3rd cutlery rack or water softener (I don't know how hard my water really is though). It is cheaper, about $1000.

Or, I've also considered the Bosch SHE65P05UC. LED on the front with remaining timer, the loudest (47 dBA), 30 minute quick wash, smaller (14 place settings) and also no 3rd cutlery rack or water softener. The cheapest at just under $900.

Every salesperson is telling me that Bosch is much better, but I've heard some great reviews of KA, and I'm confused and can't seem to decide. Which one would you pick? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hmm, lots of weird stories with Bosch lately and I personaly think they feel cheap for the price (JMHO). Out of those I'd get the KA. Too rich for my blood though. As far as the sound levels go I think anything below 50dB is so unobtrusive it shouldn't hold a ton of weight unless you have a particular need for it.

There are a few big differences that you must consider between KA and Bosch. I have Bosch SHX65PO.

KA has heated dry and Bosch does not. That means that you must use Jet-Dry with the Bosch and still, your dishes MAY or MAY NOT be dry at the end of the cycle. Although there are many happy Bosch owners out there, plenty seem to report having to air-dry after the cycle. With heated dry your dishes will be hot and dry (except for perhaps a few drops of water on the plastics). You just have to make sure plastic doesn't fall down and melt on the heater on the bottom. Whether or not you get heated dry is a matter of personal preference.

Many Bosch machines are Energy-Star rated. They use less water and power, because of the no-heated-dry thing. Depending on where you live, you might get a significant rebate because of that. Plus energy/water savings, save the planet, etc.

KA has larger racks and, IMHO, better rack tine placement. Bring your dishes to the store and try them. The Bosch says it fits X number of place settings, but if you look at the tines your plates may not fit because they are so close together. I have to load my Bosch using every other tine, and the top rack is noticeably smaller than the KA.

The KA is a deeper machine. Make sure you have enough depth or it may protrude, especially if you plan on paneling it. Some owners will make their countertop overhang a bit larger to compensate, or fur out their cabinets and inch, to compensate for a panelled KA dishwasher. The Bosch is less deep and would fit a smaller space.

My dishwasher is 47 decibels. It's fine. I can tell when it's running. I do hear sloshing water but it's a background sound and you can certainly stand next to it, talk on the phone or chat without being bothered at all. That was definitely not the case with my old Maytag which we had to shout over.

We have both brands of dishwashers in our households. Total of four, two Miele and two Bosch. There are pros and cons with both of them. With the Bosch, which we use daily, I feel I can get more dishes in the dishwasher than the Miele. However to get the dishes completely dry you have to crack the dishwasher open yourself immediately after it is done washing. the Bosch gets things much cleaner than the Miele as far as caked on food. The Miele on the other hand is just as wonderful as the Bosch but has a few extra features that I wish the Bosch had. The Miele when it is done washing has an arm that automatically opens the dishwasher to allow the dishes to dry. I have found on some occasions trouble with this because the arm does not always go back in and it takes several tries to get it fixed and back in order to run another load. However I love the fact that it has the utensil shelf, I feel like I get more utensils in the dishwasher with the Miele than the Bosch utensil basket and with a family of 7 I need to get as much washed in one load as possible. The Miele also has a funky bottom rack on the left side and is hard to load pots and pans because it seems as if it is made for square dishes and a cookie sheet behind it. Whereas with the Bosch you can just keep loading and loading and also change the layout of the rack with a couple of clicks on the top and bottom. Either dishwasher you go with you will be absolutely happy with. Both dishwashers are the best you can buy and the one feature about these two brands are that they actually heat their own water up before putting it on the dishes which helps to get them cleaner compared to other brands. If you have never had one or the other you won't even notice the differences between them.

Yes, but if that "one" flooded your living room and dining room, both of which had expensive carpet installed 6 months earlier ... it would become a defining moment for you too, lascatx. The dish drawers have been flawless, but they do have a moisture alarm on the floor beneath them. The reason the flood happened? During the night a brain fart happened (in the dishwasher) and water kept filling and flooding out the dishwasher because there was no ability to electronically drain the water. So when DH went to the kitchen to make coffee the next morning, slosh! slosh! We were not happy campers, especially since that dishwasher was about a year old.

I have had mid to high level Asko, Bosh and Miele over the years. Bosch was my least favorite for various reasons. (I think I had Integra 800 level one, can't remember for sure.) I currently have a mid level Miele and am much happier with it. Bosch is quieter but Bosch did not fit my dishes as well and did not clean quite as well. I could have lived with it well enough but I had the chance to swap out with a Miele and I am much happier. My biggest gripe was the capacity. The Bosch racks simply did not work for us as well as the other two brands. I had the DW long enough to really max out the capacity! The first day I got the Miele, I could put in significantly more than the Bosch... I generally run the dishes and go to sleep so the noise is not quite as much of an issue for me. But the Bosch was quieter at the same $ value, $1200 - $1500 range. (I do not own the $2000 Miele with a real quiet package.) For the same $, you get much more bells and whistles with the Bosch. The cleaning was somewhat (only incrementally...) below what the Asko or the Miele did in the same install location with the same water and the same detergent. I think if you want more varied programs, then Bosch will be a better option for you. (I do miss the little light that tells you when it is done!) For example, I had a delay start on the Bosch but i do not have the delay start with the Miele even though I paid more for the Miele. if I did not use the Asko for 10 years quite happily, I think I would have been a happy customer with the Bosch. Unfortunately, my bar was pretty high.

I have a specific dilemma on this same subject! There is a kitchen aid architect II open box at about $600 http://dishwashers.reviewed.com/content/kitchenaid-architect-series-ii-kdtm354dss-dishwasher-review or this open box also for around $790 http://dishwashers.reviewed.com/content/ge-profile-pdt855s-series-dishwasher-review They both were editors picks with good results on http://dishwashers.reviewed.com/ ..whatever weight that is worth. Or there is Bosch... The bosch is what I originally considered but again, confusing to pick. No fair way to compare other then just picking a random 500 or 800 series and just going with it. Lowes only carrys a limited selection, if any, on display. With the updates for 2017, I've found lot of the online information is outdated. They had a thermadore open box deal that I would of jumped on but the model had a history of leak complaints so it was a pass. Also almost considering the miele with the auto door open dry for $1,400 and leak detection. The auto door is the only reason why I MAY consider blowing budget but I get torn because most people seem to do fine with bosch's drying set up..by just planning so they open the door after its done. (if I understand correctly) I like that miele is built for longevity but We plan on being in a different house before 6 or so years, if that factors in.

I'd get a Miele! No KA product is worth waiting for these days, and some have been value sized into junk.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I took one of the kids dishes (I usually wash them in the top rack) to the store and noticed that I can't use the 3rd rack if the kids plates are on the top rack. I'm going to search on heated dry, thanks for pointing that out.

@Antss - I thought the Miele was out of my price range?? I'm going to look at it, but how do I compare the noise level?

Don't discount the convection drying. My Samsung 800 does a great job and it was only $750.
