Your "working piano" is beautiful! Can tell it is loved!
Santa on the hearth with the logs/faux candles looks right at home there. Your chandie looks very old-time Christmas-y & the t'cloth...a "home-y" feeling.

The 1st pic is very lovely & what a warm, comfy feeling to be in your home over the Christmas holidays. Very nice...all the books, pictures, figurines & colors used throughout. TFS, jay! Never too late! Jeanne S.

There is no deadline on posting Christmas pictures that I know of :) - I could look at them all year long. I love Santa and the 3 log candles. I want hubby to hollow out some real logs for me to put these new flameless tealights in for presents next year. Working piano......perfect I bet it had the sounds of Christmas flowing from it during the holidays. My favorite Christmas CD is just piano - so soothing and peaceful - TFS .....

Thank you everyone. All things considered I feel pretty good for a week post op and I'm behaving quite well. doing only what I'm supposed to do. Drippy, those chipmunks are not funny and they sure aren't "chip and dale" either. Never mind the garden bed destruction that they create, the holes that they dig can be dangerous if you get your shoe or foot caught in one of them and go down. A year ago I did just that and tore ligaments in my ankle. The little boy that used to live next door got his foot in one when he was 4 and broke his leg. Now if that isn't enough insult here's more to add insult to injury. An article in the newspaper a few weeks ago said that chipmunks are a major carrier of deer tick now, more so than even deer and that could be the cause of a massive increase in the number of Lyme Disease cases being reported. Not that i needed an incentive to do everything I can to get rid of them, but that sure added a whole new layer to doing it. Then a friend called me last week the day before I went to the hospital to warn me that she was working in the gardens a month ago and she unknowingly disturbed a chipmunk that jumped on her arm and ran off. She didn't notice that she had a tick on her arm till the next day because it had attached right on top of a birthmark. 2 weeks later, bingo she has the classic bulls eye rash on her arm and has lyme disease. Chipmunks are not very smart. They can't swim, but will be more than happy to dive into water to get sunflower seeds and drown in the process and that's fine with me, right along with eating my datura as well. e-mail me if you want some info on chipmunks that like to dive for sunflower seeds. Bonny, the livingston daisy was WS by a friend of mine. There are 3 of us that share the WS for 3 gardens. We cane up with the idea to share it all after a couple of years of all of us sowing the same seeds then coming to my spring plant swap and all having the same extra seedlings. Didn't make sense so we split it up now. We end up with the same number of containers, more of each kind sowed, but the total variety is split between the homes and we end up with an even bigger variety of plants for the beds. Vera the color of that viola is beautiful. If you have any seeds for trade in the fall, I'd love some and will send you some of mine. PV, sow those seeds for next year. No matter how many of them you have, sow all of them cause they are a funny seed to germinate. My experience with them has been strange to say the least. My first seeds where from valueseeds.com. got 3 packets, 30 seeds in each packet and sowed them in early March. just sprinkled on the top of the soil cause they are small and tannish in color. Out of those 70 seeds we got 6 seedlings. Not a very happy camper that there, but I collected every single one of the seeds I could get my hands on from the plants and it was a ton of seeds, more than 1/4 tsp. Next year we sowed every one of those seeds, and I kept thinking OMG, what will I do if thousands of these seeds germinate. Well, no such luck, we got 20 seedlings last year. Figured ok, better than the year before and we will always have to sow every single seed we get. So this past year I had more than 1/2 teaspoon of seeds. We sowed 4 mushroom containers of seeds, the 10 ounce size container, put each one in a ziplock baggie and put them out in mid April this year. just an experiment to see if a later sowing would make any difference in the germination rate. They began to germinate on 4/29 the exact same day as the prior to years, and they where slow. But this year we saw how the seeds germinate. they swell to at least twice their original size and all but germinate 1 seed at a time. honest. But there was a huge difference in this years germination. We had mushroom containers totally covered in seedlings. so many that we couldn't separate seedlings and planted hunks of them every where. My neighbor across the street still hasn't planted hers out yet and the entire container is covered in flowers and seedlings covering the container. We have to have thousands of seedlings this year. On top of that, we have seedlings of the viola popping up all over the place in the lawn and my neighbor has several popping up in her yard as well. Doesn't make any sense to me why on the third year with the seeds, second year of collecting seeds we have mass germination and the prior 2 years including the first year from commercial purchase the germination was very poor. I watched part of it once but found it really annoying. Old men embarrassing themselves in foreign countries on camera. I wouldn't have thought that a paycheck would be that important. That's my measly opinion, at least. I doubt that I could take them seriously again.

Gardengal, I was researching where Salvia elegans is endemic to, and it grows wild in southern Mexico and Guatemala, way high up in the mountains, between 6000 and 9000 ft., at the edges of forests. Down there it's a large perennial shrub. They prefer a very long growing season, almost year round, with mild temperatures I was thinking the same thing as you when I grew it here, "why won't it blast off with all the summer heat?" but it maintained a slow pace. Because the majority of Salvia species we all grow are annual, or tender perennials that we usually treat like annuals. I had assumed that S. elegans was something like a tender perennial sage that will bloom for a long time, like Amistad or Mexican Bush Sage. So the S. elegans needs a longer period before blooming, and it's fortunate that SOMETIMES🙏 it will bloom. To me it's a divine plant, the smell, the taste, and that flower color! I think I read that in zone 8 it will overwinter. It won't overwinter here. I read that it has many varieties and that Tangerine Sage is a variety. I've searched, but can't find anything about other varieties, only Tangerine. Has anybody ever grown the Tangerine variety of Salvia elegans. Does anyone have it overwinter?

The santa on the hearth is made of cedar logs. It was given to me by a choir member several years ago. The grand girls loved being given the job of turning on the candles every evening. Above the mantle, there was an illumination with all of the names of Jesus listed...evey night the girls and I read all of the names, and then lit all of the (electric...I'm skeert of fire) candles. Even the 3 year old could say many of the names. It was too cute!
Nana, I play piano, organ, accordian, flute and low brass. If you noticed in the "angel" pictures, many of my angels are musicians :^). Yes, Christmas always goes toooooo fast!!! I am unusually busy because of all the church music, and it seems like I miss out on other good things....(such as this forum ;^)

Jay, you just know that your Merry Christmas sign and that pretty hatbox caught my eye. Is the sign painted? I really like the font they used for the letters. And on the piano, did you make the music sheet candles? I've seen some on the blogs and loved them, saved the idea for my waaaay too long to do list--even though I don't have a musical note in my whole body! And I see more angels everywhere too--you have a neat collection of them. Luvs

I'm so glad you logged in and showed your decorations. The lady bust and tassels and stacked books on your side table are great, love them. I always love angels of any sort and the little angel choir candlebra is darling. Something about your home reminds me of my DM's when she was still with us. I love your piano and forget that you are so talented. I'm just plain jealous. I had piano lessons as a child and again as an adult and still can't play diddly squat.

Jay, so wonderful to see you've posted some of your decorations for us. The little bust on the coffee table is so cute. Love your angels and the chandy is gorgeous. Neat china cabinet you have too.

I noticed the Merry Christmas sign right off too. Darling santa and candles on your neat brick fireplace. Enjoyed reading about that.

Your piano lookds great. You sound like one very talented musician. We need to get the bus and head over to your place, sip tea and listen to your beautiful music. I use to play the accordian but haven't pulled them out and played for years. So glad you posted pictures.

Jay...I loved looking at your pictures. I agree, even though it went by so fast...I'm enjoying everyone's Christmas pictures now, and so glad you posted yours.
I always enjoy your home. Everything is so inviting.
The setting by your piano is just lovely and I too love the Santa by the hearth as well as the little bust and how you decorated her. Love the Merry Christmas Sign and the vignette with it. Now I know your DF made your China Cabinet...did he make that Desk too? It's just beautiful.

Luvs...the sign was painted by a friend several years ago. I have moved it here and there around the house, but it like being up on that wall the best :^) I did make the candles...it is just music scrapbook paper glued around the battery powered candles from Michaels (with a coupon of course ;^)
Yes Jane, my Dad made the desk for me when I graduated from the 8th grade. It is another prized possession :^). After things calm down a bit, I will take some pictures of other things that he made... they are all pretty cool!

It's never too late for Christmas pics, Jaybird. I'm just now starting to look through this year's batch of them here! I love how you set your little girl's bust in a candle ring . . . how simple and beautiful! Love how you've decorated your chandelier, too. You know, I get this wonderful sense of coziness and family when I look at your pics. It's obvious that your home is a very warm and welcoming place.
