Your plan has evolved nicely! I don't think I'd bother with the door by the dining room table. I think it'd be too crowded to get out that door, and you have a door in the great room, only steps away. Multiple doors onto the patio will mean more difficulty placing furniture on the patio. Multiple doors also mean more doors to accidentally leave open, and if you ever do a security system, more doors = more cost. I like the increased size of your dining room table. I prefer the great room furniture placement in the second image. Why? When you walk in, you'll have "space" between the two chairs, which gives you a better view into the great room and feels more inviting. However, with a large family, the sofa is probably more practical. If you go with the sofa, I'd place a table behind it - just feels right to me. Since you don't have unlimited space in the great room, I'd go with the sliding door. Having lived with both, sliding glass doors are more functional than French doors. French doors open up into the house and take up space, whereas the sliding glass door "disappears" when you open it up -- thus, you get better air flow. I know, French doors are so pretty . . . so it's a question of function or looks. In either floorplan, I'd consider skipping the mid-room door and going with a bank of windows in its place . . . and then having a single door just at the spot where the great room meets the kitchen. A door in that place would serve both rooms and would free up your furniture placement choices. I prefer the mudroom arrangement in the first plan. Seems to be a better use of the space. I like the placement of the powder room better, and I think its laundry room is "right sized", whereas the other one is a bit bloated.

How do you intend to use that hallway between your covered porch and your mudroom? Except for access to 2 tiny closets, it almost seems like wasted space. Your entry way seems pretty large, yet with limited wall space, it doesn't appear to be very functional. And why 2 coat closets? I'm wondering where you would place a bench or small table. Is that an open staircase? When the door opens, does it face the part of the stairway where the wall begins? The entry could be nice if you had a nice large wall to install a great piece of artwork focal point. But there appears to be almost no wall space. At 5' wide, you are limited to 12" deep shelves on each side of your pantry. Which might be fine for cans of soup. But think of all that stuff you buy in bulk at the warehouse stores - 16-18" deep shelves would be better. So try to add a foot of width to your pantry for 2 rows of shelves, or you could delete the width by a foot for 1 row of shelves. Speaking of the pantry, it is a long walk from the garage, hauling groceries. Is your kitchen island 8'? You'll never get 4 chairs on an 8' island. 9' would be better, 10' preferable. Or keep it to 3 stools at the island. I'd prefer the deck to be accessible to the family room. Especially if you entertain in nice weather. Having the door off the nook realistically removes 3' of space from you nook. Upstairs I don't like those angled doors for the playroom and the end bedroom. By moving the playroom closets to the wall against the laundry room (added benefit of sound barrier) you can extend the hallway to end straight. Have one room entered from the end of the hallway, and the other entered on the side.

Agree that the toilet in the master bath should be switched with the linen closet so the toilet isn't on the master bedroom wall. Same with the W/D. Your master closet is 8' wide. Considering you need 2' of hanging on each side that leaves you 4' in the center. Will that be a large enough turning radius for you? I dislike that your master bedroom only has the two windows and is backing the laundry area. I think it would work a heck of a lot better where the exercise room is. You would have to reconfigure where the other spaces are, but how nice would it be to have a bedroom where you're looking out at your backyard vs just a wall with a fireplace? I also don't like the idea that the bedroom egress window is in your master closet. That doesn't feel very safe to me. You have 6' between counters in the kitchen. The turning radius needed for wheelchair accessibility is 5' not 6' and I agree that the extra foot would be better used between the island and the dining table space. Right now you don't have enough space there. Also switch your dishwasher with your sink so your dishwasher isn't in your prep and work area. This way if the DW is open you can still cook or prep. Will you have any problems maneuvering in bedrooms 2 and 3? Wouldn't you prefer your deck ramp to lead you into the main part of the backyard? Instead of two sinks in the kids bathroom, I'd change it to 1 sink with lots of storage. I don't think anyone will notice the kitchen and family room are "out of alignment". We tend to look at rooms overall. We also considered a courtyard garage, but it stuck out even further. The difference is with a courtyard entry to the garage, you won't be looking straight at two huge garage doors but instead will be looking at a design that is incorporated into the look of the house using windows etc. I would seriously reconsider using a courtyard garage.

"crowd sourcing" is an internet term for a problem solving technique that has been a standard procedure of design professionals for more than a half century and perhaps much longer. For those who have not been formally trained in its use, the aspect of it that is usually omitted on the internet is a moderator or leader who has the task of formally defining the problem including any solutions that have already been eliminated. What often results on an internet forum are conversations and arguments between the team members due to the absence of a formal moderator for a particular session. In fact, discussions often ignore the original problem and drift into other issues. In short, despite the power of the the internet for group problem solving or crowd sourcing, human nature cannot resist the opportunity to chat.
