dang, as soon as I saw your name I thought, "that's it!" I will now do a search with the CORRECT name and hopefully find pics of your baths. I think they are all just lovely. Maybe you're in the gallery? I thought I had saved a post with your pics in it, but can't find it. I want to copy some of your ideas. You know, it's the sincerest form of flattery! I don't want to bother you if I can find it somewhere else, but could you say what color and brand of grout you used in your baths? Guess I'm going to be using AO ice white subways in my bath, and I already feel the grout color monkey on my back even though the tiles haven't even been ordered yet. "Why can't I find something like that in the stores?" They really are not popular. Double hung windows are not being built into new homes in the bathrooms. Not all homes years ago had them either. If the window is in the shower/tub area one would want a plastic shower curtain cut down to size. Otherwise the Roman shades or window blinds seem to be what people put on bathroom windows. One option is to get "kitchen curtains" but they are usually the cafe style. Or get a long panel and just hem it to the length you want.

I addressed transitional applications in this paragraph: "Is a new thermostatic shower valve right the easiest way to control temp? Probably. But it's not the only way. Especially in remodels in older buildings. Opening up walls to change a valve can result in changes to plumbing, which can lead to all sorts of issues. When remodeling in older buildings or houses, there certainly are different strokes." Not everyone wants a gut remodel.Not everyone wants to open up a tiled wall to install a new valve. Not everyone want to disturb original plumbing inside of a wall. Not everyone can, for myriad reasons. But in old construction, you can go from having no scald protection to having scald protection by installing an in-line thermostatic valve. And they work just fine. Down the road when a true remodel occurs, then tile can be popped, or complete walls can be opened up, and a shower valve with anti-scald protection can be installed. If you want different water temps in different locations, you can do so. It's not that hard to do. It might hurt to think about it, but with "modern construction" what scald protection do you have at a kitchen sink? None. A bathroom sink? None. The only place you have it is in a shower/tub. If you install an "ancient decrepit" whole-house valve, precious children and Alzheimer-suffering old folk across the globe will have scald protection wherever hot water can flow.

I would use it in something less permanent and costly to replace than a floor or shower--something DIY. You could use a row or two as an accent in tiled wainscoting, depending on the size of the individual tiles. What I like about some of these examples is how the accent tile is sandwiched between rows of white tile. Here the accent tile is used between wood panels. You could use beadboard for a coastal feel to match the tile colors, and it would be less formal than this for a kid's bath. Or you could glue a plain mirror to the wall and tile the entire wall around it. That looks best when the vanity is in an alcove.
