Frigidaire Pro Built-in Fridge/Freezer,or?

I love the size, that they're built-in, look great and the price is within budget (-$2,500), but my concern is of the mixed reviews I'm finding about them and that they aren't Energy-Star compliant... Does anyone have these units and can attest to their quality or lack there of? OR comparables in the same price range that are Energy Star compliant?

I have the Twins, so not the exact ones you are looking at but I can attest to the Frigidaire complaints as far as noise and not energy star. You will note the noise of the compressors cutting on and off...think 2 units and they rarely seem to be off/on at the same time so 2x as much sound. I am used to it and unless I am home alone and the house is completely quiet I don't pay it much attn. but it is a reality that you need to be aware of. They run a lot...a lot...they are not energy star.

Now the positives...the interior has held up very well for 4 years of tough use and they look as they did when installed, I have had no problem at all with cold enough at all , they keep things perfectly in the fridge and freezer. Hope this helps with your choices. Mine were only $750 each so VERY cheap. I would love a wonderful builtin energy saver all fridge/all freezer that is reasonable in price but I think that I am not going to find anything better than what I have and with the sad way appliances are now made I am thinking I will just stick with what I have. c

We have the Kenmore Pro ones (like these) which I think are made by Frigidaire. (?) We've only had them installed for 2 months, but before that they sat for 2 years in our dirty garage -- long story -- so we were a little worried about how they would work after sitting for all that time but bottom line, no problems, and we're thrilled with them. For the price they can't be beat. There are two slightly odd things about them however. One is that there's no meat drawer, which I was used to in our other fridge and I do miss that. There are two HUGE drawers which I love having, but we fill one with fruits and the other with veggies, so then I just have meat on one the shelf above the drawers, which is okay but I would rather have a drawer for it. The second odd thing is that the shelf structure above the drawers are actually attached to the drawers themselves and they don't seem to come off for cleaning. The glass itself lifts out, but the surrounding shelf frame doesn't detach from the drawer (at least that we could figure out!) which makes it awkward for cleaning as you can't just turn it upside down into your sink and dump out fallen particles. Those are very minor inconveniences for the space and convenience (especially the freezer space which is incredible), and overall I love these appliances and I would get them again in a heartbeat.

The spec sheet states that the minimum cut out depth should be just over 25 inches. I'm not sure why. Built-in refrigerators are 24" deep. These Frigidaire Pros are 26.5" deep. They specify 25.25" minimum cut out depth. The balance gets covered by the trim pieces.

I have the Kenmore Elite Twins, which is identical to the Frigidaire. trailrunner: "I still think they are a lot noisier that reg fridges and in fact have compared them to other brands in every home we go to and usually you can't hear any fridges of any other brand that I have compared. But they now have the Energy Saver of the Twins and they are a more expensive...I pd 1500 for both units together....and I would get them instead if I was doing it over. I love having 2 sep. units and will never go back to a single unit." ditto on the: - loudness of the units. Mine seems to run (kick on) more often than my previous fridges. I've actually called Customer Services about it and they assured me that is normal. - Energy Star. My units are not Energy Star and I wish I could have gotten those rated Energy Star. - never going back to 1 single fridge. My freezer is PACKED. I buy in bulk (this week was 11 pounds of drumsticks for $0.79/#, which I marinated in 4 styles: Spanish with olives and raisins, balsamic vinegar and anise, teriyaki, and buffalo). I'm also short so the tall Subzero nor Thermador were never a consideration. I can't reach to the top shelf, let alone to the back of it. The fridge capacity is a bit small, especially when DH buys beer for the soccer party the same day I go grocery shopping, but it works for my family of 4.

Went to take a picture of the Frigidaire with the ding, to be sure the cabinet will cover it ( it will). In the process saw one of the shelves was now unpacked and potentially used ( they were not in the unit last time). Nothing other than the usual cleaning appears to be needed. Sales person was horrified, though. Reduced the price to $720, still with the all inclusive 5 year warranty. I see no reason to pass this fridge up. It has less usable space but hopefully not noisy. $720 vs $2100. I'll live with the handles I don't like. Calling Frigidaire to see if I can put custom handles on it. I have the "commercial" version of this fridge (glass door) & freezer (maybe the same??). We have them in the garage. We've had them for 2 & 3 years. The fridge has been trouble free. The freezer has had a few service calls for the same issue (defroster coil). But...it took a few trial and errors to find the problem and we did get it figured out. No issue since then. If the last fix didn't work we were going to be able to get a replacement unit. Service was always fast and easy and the techs were great to us. The fit/finish is great. I can't speak to the noise since the are outside but I do know our KA SXS isn't quiet even though I think it is Energy Star. They were about $1300 each. I wouldn't hesitate to get them again. They have served us well.
