Frigidaire 'Twins' & Electrolux all-frig/all-freezer
Comments (14)For what it's worth, we've had more problems with Frigidaire refrigerators in the last two years than with all other appliances combined. Their ranges and microwaves are good products, but their reefers and dishwashers are very poor quality. Years ago, when they were part of GM, they were an awesome product. Too many people still remember (or still have) those products. It's not the same today. I have to agree. We have a Kenmore upright freezer whose insulation shrank, sucking the interior sides with it. As a result, a couple of the shelves fell down. We traced the Sears part number to Gibson, which is owned by Electrolux and apparently assigned to their Frigidaire group. After being burned on that freezer, we won't buy anything made by Electrolux....See MoreFrigidaire Twins vs. Electrolux
Comments (2)You do realize that they are made in the same factory and are mechanically identical, right? Frigidaire is Electrolux's budget brand. Other than the different look, they have different interiors. I don't know the differences off the top of my head so I would go on both sites and compare. Are you looking at the Elux Icon or just the regular? TL;DR If you like the looks, price, and interior of the Frigidaire better, buy it....See MoreDoes anyone in the Boston area have the Electrolux Icon Twins?
Comments (3)I'm in southwestern CT, and I don't think you want to drive all the way down here. Plus, my Icon twins are 3 years old at this point. When I was looking, these had just come out. The dealer only had the side by side on the floor--they were gorgeous and I ordered them from the picture. The research I did implied it was a toss-up as to reliability, and since Elec had just started the new Icon brand, I knew buying them would be iffy. I bought the extended warranty, which I NEVER do, but I have had absolutely no problems--kind of like taking an umbrella to guarantee it doesn't rain LOL. I suggest you look at ANY Icon refrigerator on the showroom floor to get an idea of the quality of the brand. If you like what you see, then go for it. Hedge your bets by getting the extended warranty also. I know some people on this site prefer two fridges or a freezer in the basement, but I found I forgot about a lot of things in the garage or basement, resulting in spoilage or duplicate purchases. I love the fact that EVERYTHING is visible, plus they have been very energy efficient. If you want to see a picture of mine, follow the link to my 2008 posting from when I completed my kitchen. Comments (0)We are buying a new house and redoing our kitchen. We have room for an all refrigerator/all freezer and are considering the frigidaire twins. I haven't seen any rrecent posts about them, so I was looking for some input and experience from those of you who have them. (I welcome other inputs as well!) A few years ago people complained about the noise so I'm wondering if that issue has been resolved with the more recent models. My other concerns are the ice maker being at the very top of the freezer, and I have read complaints of there still not being enough room in these. Please share your thoughts. Thanks!...See More- 14 years ago
