Buying Sink/Toilet Online
Comments (18)We have bought several sinks from SinksGallery.com - probably the largest selection of sinks I have ever found on the net. They have real people to talk to and you actually place your order on the phone. They also have a lot of unique things I have never seen on most other sites. As for a toilet, I have always found these better to buy from the plumber. There isn't a lot of money to be saved IMHO on a toilet after shipping, etc. and I have had many call backs that were "free" since I bought the toilet from the plumber (it would have been a charged service call otherwise). I've looked at Signature Hardware before, but everything appears to be just import stuff.. Maybe OK for a few things, but I can't comment otherwise since I have purchased from them directly. Good luck! That Here is a link that might be useful: Sinks Gallery...See MoreWhere to buy Toto washlet/toilet in Canada?
Comments (8)The info was in a Toronto newspaper article a year or more ago. Of course now I've forgotten where. It dealt with bypassing the brokerage function of courier companies. If you can get your stuff sent through the American and Canadian postal systems it's very simple but many sellers like to use couriers and it gets complicated. From what I can remember, it is all based on the invoice information that the seller physically packs with the item and copies that are electronically entered into the system. I think you can request one too from the seller and also request "no brokerage". You even may be able to head directly to customs if things are more streamlined now, I don't know. You would need to nail down the exact hoops you must jump through and how by talking to your courier and the customs people first. While the idea seems attractive, there is an old saying "If it is so easy everyone would do it". Could you get stuck with some kind of storage fees if the shipment is held up for some reason you can't control? Who knows? Here's a link with some general info. Comments (22)I ordered 3 totos from faucetdirect.com 2 of 3 came damaged. the boxing on mine was not impressive, and 2 of the 3 boxes were somewhat crushed, one of those was fine, the one in the good box was broken. we inspected when they were being delivered and refused delivery, called up faucetdirect sent new ones, those were fine and delivered quickly. they did seem to indicate tht the process was more involved if I actually accepted them and did a return reorder etc. I'd consider doing it again, but I think next time I'd check locally as well and see what they could do on price I was on the edge of my seat until they were installed to see if they were fine...See Moregood deals for Toto toilets and tubs - where?
Comments (5)I must repeat, as I always try to, that I am of record as a friend of the owner of National Builder Supply and I write a blog site that I use their name in because of my friendship. I am not employed by them nor paid to endorse them. With that said I am a customer of NBS having bought both 2 Toto Ultramax toilets and just recently a Toto Washlet and as a customer not just a friend I highly recommend them. Now to show my fairness I recently did a project(for a soon to be published blog) where I compared prices, freight and service on some of the larger online marketers in addition to HD and found that National Builder Supply and Faucet Depot were neck and neck regarding both and far above any of the others. Equally as part of my daily life I read and respond in some 30+ discussion forums such as this one and find both to have the greatest service recommendations. If anyone is interested in knowing the oevrall results of my project and the other marketers let me know and Ill tell you when I publish the blog. My conclusion at the end of my survey was a very Strong Cavet Emptor because some of the ones I reviewed employed considerable trickery when it came to listing prices then when you get to the point to settle up your shopping cart you find excess freight charges (especially on tubs and toilets) and hidden service charges. I am truly disappointed and trying my nest to make sure the word gets out....See Moreserendipity01
