I am going with a similar look and am doing a carrara & nero marble basketweave faux rug for the floor. I will probably have darker bardiglio tiles around the edges of the room and there will be a cararra twisted rope border (and nero liner tiles on each side of the rope) to delineate the "rug". This way, the pattern does not overwhelm the room and it is a very pretty look in and of itself. I wish I had a mock up of it because even dh has not seen what I chose (other than the basketweave middle), lol. Oh... and am using dark gray grout because white would be just plain suicidal in our house. Maybe Bill V has done similar and has a pic?

I am kind of perplexed that you think it would look odd. To me it is kind of a classic look. Think slate floor, natural cherry cabinets, soapstone or other black counter- that is a classic look. I also feel it creates real cohesion. In your case I do like the creamstone the best, I think it works beautifully with your floor and I would not do a matching back splash. i would use tile for that.

@Lauren E The wall tile/tub do match each other, I've attached more of close up pics. To me, they are a cream/almond/ beige. (maybe slightly pink?). t's currently painted a khaki color. The vanity top is slighly pinkish and the floors are travertine. The lighting is awful - no natural light.

Don't plan a re-do now, finish the bathroom. It looks really great to me at this stage. Faucet, towels, accessories and shower curtain if that's what you are using. I've done all shades of white in the same room, works just fine IMO and does not look sterile when complete like an operating room ;0) I wouldn't stress with the overhang either, its modest and should help to protect the cabinet front from drips, make cleanups easier. I had a kitchen with literally NO overhang at the counters for a while and cleaning was difficult. I had to open a drawer to get my hand under the counter when wiping things off. Never again.
