existing shower drain location and new shower base

Forgive my ignorance. I haven't been able to figure out how the bottom of a shower actually works in respect to drainage.

My shower drain is in the corner, only 10 and 6 inches from the walls. I currently have a tile shower floor.

If I get a standard base size from onyx or swanstone which appear to have most drains in the center, how does the new drain connect to the old plumbing in the corner?

OR, does this mean I can't use a standard size and must order custom?

OR, is it possible to move the plumbing (in a cement slab house)? Costly? Which is more costly? Moving the drain a foot or two or $945 for a custom shower base?

Thanks!
