After doing a fair amount of research for the right dishwasher I decided on the kitchen aid. I've had it for about two months now and absolutely love it. It cost about $1500 (stainless steel) with installation and delivery. Here's what I love about it. quick rinse. we're only two so we don't run it every single day but the quick rinse helps to wash the food off at high temp for in between washes. It washes and dries on the normal cycle just fine. It has a built in garbage disposal -you don't have to clean out a filter. I rinse the food off for the most part before loading. It has an extra cutlery rack on the very top which isn't absolutely necessary for me. I really like the shelf height adjustment for the top cup rack because I can fit pots below and use the "pot scrub" feature which I think is fabulous. I just ran a pyrex through the other day with some stainless steel pots and everything came out spotless. It has a rinse dispenser thing that you fill up once in a while (since installment I haven't run out yet) and then it dispenses for each load. As for the detergent, I just use the electrosol 3in1 tabs. You just put one tab in the compartment and close it up. The KA is well made and I couldn't be happier... of course, I was handwashing for the last 6 years and that took a lot of time and space (drainboard constantly out).I've linked the model I bought below. I'm so happy that you created this post because about 20 years ago I installed an Asko in a kitchen remodel and absolutely LOVED it! I never knew anyone else that owned one and somehow Bosch has gotten a lot of press over these years. Now I'm in a new house and hate the Bosch that came with the house and am doing a kitchen upgrade and in my search can't find hardly anything on the Asko dishwashers. I went to an appliance store and they were promoting Kitchen Aid so I was kinda going to go that route. Now with the shortage, I decided to find out about the lead time for an Asko and call different high-end appliance stores. I found a place that said they are receiving a shipment in early January. This time the lady I spoke with said that they sell many Asko's and that since SubZero/Wolf took it over many customers buy because of that connection. I was reassured after speaking with her and also this thread gave me the confidence again that I once had in Asko. It's just so strange that you don't find any comparisons or information on Asko. It's as if they are a non-player in the indutry but sounds like they are with those in the higher end world. Seriously I can't tell you how much I loved my Asko. I never had to rinse my dishes and that always impressed my guests. I mean why else do I need a dishwasher if I'm going to rinse or wash before???!!! Yay. I'm getting my Asko once again and I can't wait!! I'll try and come back here and post my experience since I'll have a fresh comparison with my current Bosch.

In the August 08 brochure, these are the differences it lists between the Diamante G2120SC and the Optima G2430SC, but it doesn't always explain what they are. I think only the Excelle and LaPerla had the cutlery tray in two removable sections. For Detergent we use the Cascade 2-in-1 Packs (powder) with Dawn. For that, would the Optima be set for Gel or 2-in-1? The manual says the 2-in-1 setting is if it has a rinse aid built into the packet. The Cascade 2-in-1 does not, so I guess the Gel setting would be the best one to use. As posted yesterday, the dishwasher would have to be connected to my Hot Water line. Because of that, it would be around 120F when it get to the unit. It could heat the water even hotter if needed, but I wonder if it would lower the temperature if needed. It looks like the Diamante has 5 pre-set temperature settings (it doesn't say what the are) and the Optima can adjust it to any. I'd have to think about the extra cost for the Optima, as a few of the features would be nice. It's still sounds a bit odd to me that you have to spend over $1679 for a Miele dishwasher just to get a Delay Start, when my GE from 2 years ago had it for $600, and my current Electrolux does at $1300. We like the look of the intergraded (SCSF), but its $200 more just for that. I'm not sure what the "Acoustic Function Monitor" and " Optical Function Monitor" are. I ask tomorrow when I call them to find out about the warranty. When I was at the Miele showroom last week, I brought some dishes, glasses, silverware, and a baking sheet to see how they would fit. The tallest glass that I had just cleared the cutlery rack when the middle rack was in the highest position. Lowering the middle rack gave the glass more room, but then the middle spray was closer to the dishes. We put some of the silverware in the cutlery tray, and it wasn't as difficult to use as my mom thought it would be.

I have a large pullout breadboard and I use a clamp-on pasta machine at it. I'm just a rookie. I try to keep the pasta hunks at a manageable length yet the logistics do defy me sometimes (but doesn't that happen anywhere? My arms aren't long enough either). How do you lay things out in current usage? How much clean flat space do you need and in which direction from the machine? Could you clamp on the pasta machine on the opposite side of the peninsula? or on the short end? You will have supports underneath, right? If you're pushing down really hard you're defying the logic of the unit I would think. I push down on a mere breadboard and it can take the pressure. Just be sure to put some padding between clamp and the stone so you don't scratch an expensive surface. A large pull-out board between range and oven would give you plunk space from pantry or front door. A pull-out smaller board to left of refrig would be a great sandwich station and chopping station. A pull-out on the peninsula to the side of the red circle would give lowered clean wooden work surface and it would be facing the sitters. ____ check that door on dishwasher--is that really how small it is? Sorry to doubt you if there's no error. I had a 4-foot aisle and the DW door essentially bisected it.
