Shower Spa Towers

Just was watching HGTV Save My Bath and saw a Shower Spa called Kapalani Shower Spa. It an all inclusive unit -- here is the info on it:

There are 10 different configurations- my question is does anyone have one or do you know anything about it? I am getting ready to re-do my masterbath and this looked interesting. Thanks for any info you could pass my way.

I do not have this brand of shower panel/column, but I do have a DreamLine brand product (DreamLine SHCM-2718-00 to be specific). If you are interested in the concept but not the specific one you mentioned, do a web search for "shower panel" or "shower column" and you should get a number of hits. We have had ours for almost a year and we like it, but have ended up not using the jets that much. Ours has a rain shower head and a separate hand shower, both are well used. The jets are not as powerful as I had hoped, but it is not bad for an all-in-one unit. I do not know if a more expensive unit would provide more powerful jets, I think the only way that will really happen is if you get a shower system where you plumb the jets into the wall. When I was looking for mine I wanted separate knobs for each function and the ability to use them all at once if I wished (which cuts down on water pressure of course). Make sure to take into consideration how you want to use it because many of them can only do one function at a time. Also take into consideration the placement of the jets on the unit; you have to imagine where they would be hitting you and if you want to be hit there! Even adjustable ones can only be adjusted so much. Of course you can place the panel at whatever height you want, but you can only go so high or low due to the shower head.
Installation was easy; I think it was easier than putting in the standard shower trim on the other side (we have a 2 person shower). I do remember that besides DreamLine the brand Hansgrohe had several. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your help, jigg, I will definitely do some more research. I'm not even sure if we would use the jets-so why pay for them...maybe decisions!

I just posted on another thread where the OP was looking at shower fixture options. You might find those comments helpful. The system I referenced (Hansgrohe Radiance, #27112) has the volume/diverter to handheld on the left and the temp control (which we set and leave alone) on the right. It is not inexpensive and it is not a cheap aftermarket but maybe Sophie is referring to something else. I think it really depends on if you are a bath person or not. Personally, when looking at houses a bath was not a “downside” unless it robbed space from a full sized shower, leaving either no shower or something the size of an old broom closet. I’d take a shower over a bath any day. All that said, I don’t take baths, and my husband who does is happy using the one in the bathroom down the hall. If you are someone who takes baths, then I would look at doing a tub/shower combo (an alcove tub like mentioned above)...you can do tile walls and even a glass enclosure to make it look a little prettier. If you have the space, or are tall, maybe see if you can put in a 6’ tub/shower? And because of your arthritis I recommend avoiding drop in/deep soaker tubs and such anyway. They can feel luxurious for sure but they are more difficult to get in and out of so that may factor in during a flare or down the road. For closet space, I ditto the recommendation to look at PAX from Ikea. I like walk in closets, but if you are going to sacrifice walk in closets I would go for PAX over a built in reach in closet. They allow a lot more flexibility with how you arrange things in your rooms, are very functional/customizable, and they look nice!
