It's nice looking but I agree it may go out of style faster than a traditional style. $1000 is an excellent deal I hardly believe it. One thing to look into is what brand the faucets are. I'm not saying one is better than another but you should get a name brand. If 3 years from now you have a leak or something you need to get a replacement part.

Laura, I think it is gorgeous. I love modern. But if you don't love modern, then you may tire of it in time. I have not addressed any other needs, such as storage (toothbrush/hairbrush, hairdryer,), durability, scale or cabinet finish, just looks. And it sure looks good to me.
Perhaps wall mount soap dispenser? Recessed mirrored cabinetry? Wall mount hair dryer-tidy? HTH Bev

I am an interior designer and I would have estimated this to be in the $6000-8000.00 range. It mixes old with new and is classic looking. Snap it up! Love it! Tell us who makes it.

It is VERY similar to the one I'm putting in my MB. I will also be using earth toned tile. I love modern and I think it will be "classic modern" for a very long time. I'm getting mine on ebay for 849.00 plus shipping. Although mine is a single sink. They have similar ones on ebay with double vessels in the same price range. Great deal!

These designs have been out for quite sometime and they are still very popular. If you like it; do it. If you plan on selling your house sometime soon, you might want to consider just matching the rest of your fixtures with the vanity. Good price!

I have spent hours over the course of a few months looking at vanities online. Not just ones that I could afford or were available in the US even - but every single one I could find. I just wanted to make sure that I saw all of my options before I made a decision. (A little obsessive, eh? :P)

Long story short, that was one of the first that I saw and I kept coming back to it no matter what else looked at. I knew they were on closeout, and (after talking to the company on the phone) I knew I had to make a decision quickly or they would be gone. That's what brought me here tonight - I just needed that extra push.

I just bought the vanity plus two matching wall cabinets. Yay! There will be lots of storage and I plant to do two large recessed medicine cabinets.

As far as the faucets - I agree that they probably won't be the best, but as far as I am concerned, they were a freebie considering the price (and I probably won't even use them). Every other vanity that I liked in my search was at least 3 times the price and would be been way overkill for our home's price.

So, this is where it's from if you are interested.

I actually like a lot of the James Martin collection - there are a ton mixed in with the bathroom furniture here.

I read a couple of reviews regarding poor service with this company, but I am okay with what I have found (they are on Ebay also) - and the comments I found on the quality of the vanities were all very, very good. Plus, I used my CC, so I am protected in the event that something goes wrong... (not that I am worried)

I will be very curious to hear your reaction...we have the powder room still to do and some of those 48" modern vanities look rather promising :) I actually wrote to inquire whether the counter comes with one of them--we'll see how they are at responding...good luck and please post your thoughts about the wood quality and such--the closeups of the vanities I was looking at there really look like veneer, but maybe I'm reading them wrong.

Modern, yes, but not trendy.

I think it will age rather well for the reasons you mention, and the fact that it's not exactly a common look.

The things we see the most are the things we tire of fastest. The hotest trend in baths today seems to be acres and acres of plain white subway tile. It's not a bad look, but so popular today, its bound to be less so tomorrow.

Oh, and travertine, of course: inherintly beautiful, but the number of baths being done with it and the narrow range of color are making it seem a little tired.

It is very similiar to what I just did. The only difference is mine is not wall hung and my vanity top is limestone. So of course I love it. I agree the price is a great deal. Who cares if it goes out of style? If you decorate based on that assumption your home would be very boring.

I always think it's right to go with what you really love now. Now is when you are spending the money. It's a great looking vanity and thanks for the links. I think I may have found some vanities I like finally!

You need to ask yourself a really important question. Why do you like this vanity? If you like it because it is cutting edge trendy then yes, you will be sick of it when the next new thing rolls around. If you like it because of other reasons (scale, material, massing, lines) that won't change regardless of whether they go in or out of style, then it should be fine. I enjoy lots of things that are no longer in style. If you are that type of person too then get it and enjoy it!

I think it's beautiful! I just saw a similar setup at a cabinet place yesterday and am thinking I have to totally rethink the bathroom around it. DH and I both loved it.

Little story: When we built our present house, the first time I looked for tile, I fell in love with a very $$$$ accent tile. Nothing ever looked that good to me again. I finally bought one "square" of it, showed it to my tile installer and asked what he could do with the smallest possible amount of it. He was a genius, and I ended up spending a mere $350 -- and 6 years later am devastated that it's unavailable for our new house. It still gives me pleasure me every time I walk into the bathroom. I got an enormous bang for my 350 bucks.

Point is: If you fall in love, go with it!

I just wanted to update quickly that I already have my freight number and I tracked it and it's pending pick up at the warehouse (which is actually only 4 hours away from me :D).

I will be sure to update once it arrives with pics of the details. I think that most of the vanities in this 'collection' (the James Martin collection) are going to be made the same way, so the quality will likely be consistent across different styles. And you cannot beat the price!

We see our personal residence as our worst investment, so we have chosen to stay in our "starter house" for a long time, but man does it kill me trying to suit my tastes without over improving this place! (I drool over the really $$ stuff. LOL) I guess I just get to really *perfect* my bargain hunting skills while we renovate 3 bathrooms and our kitchen! Woohoo! :) That's actually very exciting to me. Haha.

Hi all!

Just an update.

The vanity and cabinets arrived yesterday! Everything came fully assembled (with the handles attached to the inside). The packaging is impressive - the cardboard is 1 inch thick, plus all side have reinforced caps, and then tons of styrofoam, wrapping, and bubble wrap on the inside. Very well packed. No damage that I could see.

The sinks are big and beautiful. Crisp white and exactly as pictured. The faucets, to me, are basically a freebie, but they aren't half bad at all. Pretty nice looking, though I can't say more than that without installing them. The handle hardware is very nice.

I wasn't able to pull anything out fully yet, but I did take a look at the vanity from the top down. From what I can see, the doors and sides are solid wood, and the inside is veneered. This is what I expected.

*Initial* impression is that everything looks great. And for the prices they charge, I am thrilled.

I don't have pics yet, but I will take some to update if anyone is interested.

Laura, I just was googling "james martin signature" and came up with this old g'web thread...look especially at the last post. Not saying things will turn out this way but do please open the crating and check everything as soon as possible. Maybe they've improved their order flow because you received your order when you expected it, yes? Maybe they're working on improving the quality of their whole business.

I did find that thread prior to ordering (I *scoured* the Internet...), and I was okay with what I had read. I talked to the company a few times and I even almost went to the warehouse for a sale they had. My order did ship a day or two after I placed the order and then I tracked it on the shipping company website. Everything went as planned.

I should clarify that I did move things around enough to check for damage, but I didn't actually remove all of the packaging at once.

One thing that was different for me is that all three pieces I ordered were fully assembled. That poster at the end of that thread obviously wasn't happy putting things together. ;)

I know from my work how much a few bad mentions on the Internet can haunt you, but I also know so many issues with Internet retailers can be remedied fairly easily. Hopefully, Max Furniture has cleaned up its act a bit!

Mine is a kitchen cabinet, (actually two cabinets), from Scavolini. I recessed it 2" into the wall. I also have a shorter toekick. It's not wood though, it's laminate. I wish it was wood but I guess it would have cost a lot more.

I love the apppearance, but on a practical level I like undermounted sinks. Far easier to clean.

While I'm not to the point of having it installed yet, it did come last week. It was extremely well packed, coming in 3 boxes-the glass counter and mirror was very well protected. They even had a special bag for the faucet. It is absolutely gorgeous! Now, I was unhappy with "curbside delivery" they caught me right after my contractor left and my brother and I had to drag it up my driveway and into the house. That aside, I'm very pleased with it and I cannot wait to see it (and my entire bathroom) installed!

I almost forgot, it comes with these short legs for the vanity?!??? It would make it child height. It didn't matter to me, I was going to have them mount it as a floating vanity anyhow. It's just quirky.

I describe my style as farmhouse chic LOL. Our home IS an 1800's farmhouse. But I love many different styles. This vanity has, I think, a very "classic" contemporary style. I think you will enjoy it for a long time. Good choice, glad you are going for it.

thanks for posting. so you think the wood and everything seem OK--I've seen posts on different sites criticizing the construction. also, since I plan to be using those legs, can you tell me how high they are? the photo made them seem like they would take the vanity up to a standard height, and if that isn't true I need to know that. are there four legs, or just two for the front?

also, it sounds like you wish you had paid extra for the white glove delivery? the site says that standard delivery will bring it into the first room on your house--did they really dump it by the curb and not take it inside?

I think it might be confusing, the original poster is Laura and I'm Lara but I'm going to answer you anyway in case you meant me. I did not order mine through maxfurniture I got mine from ebay so I don't think bringing it into the first room of my house was a option. It went freight. If you go up in this thread I posted a link that has mine under my ebay sink with mirror-which is a single sink. I don't know if the ebay one is max furniture or not. Mine is very well built and very sturdy as I hope the OP's vanity ends up being. It is beautiful.

Lara or Laura have you installed yet? I'm very interested in what you think.

CAN ANYONE COMMENT ON THOMAS MARTIN 60" DUAL SINK TRADITIONAL VANITIES? THEY LOOK GREAT AND ARE REPRESENTED AS SOLID OAK. HOWEVER THEY ARE MADE IN CHINA. ANY COMMENTS WILL BE APPRECIATED.
