Stupid owner can't housetrain a smart Rottweiler
Comments (22)The fact that Nunyette poops in the house is not going to make me get rid of her or anything like that. I *really* don't want her pooping in the house, especially knowing she has no reason to do so. If Nunyette is going to potty, it's always before she gets obsessive. And yes, I can direct her attention away from acorns by playing with light and shadows, but she is just as obsessive about chasing light and shadows that it really doesn't help anything. If it's not acorns or shadows, she's not interested, unless the neighbor's cat is in the yard and then she's all about watching her. I don't let her chase the cat, so she sits down and just stares at her until she gets out of sight. Luckily the cat has enough sense to vacate the yard when the dogs are out. The only reason she stops eating acorns or chasing shadows is because she obeys me when I tell her to come inside. None of her toys including the favorite ball can pull her away from acorns or shadows. If she doesn't poop right away, then it isn't going to happen, whether she actually HAS to poop or not. I can try to muzzle her after she potties outside and see what she does. Obviously I don't want her to hate being outside. I don't know if she's ever worn a muzzle- she certainly hasn't since I've had her. I'll borrow one from work and see how it goes. The only bad thing is that she wouldn't be able to play fetch with the muzzle on either. The nice big back yard was not intended to be *just* a doggie potty, it was also supposed to be a place where we can all play together or at least the dogs can play together, safely without destroying the house. But getting her to poop ONLY outside trumps learning to play in the yard any day. Thanks to all for the help so far. I'll keep posting our progress....See MorePlease help me! I can't decide on a roof color...
Comments (19)Thank you SH! Those really do help me visualize how each would look. Thanks also for everyone who posted picks, I have a hard time visualizing things, which is why I'm having this current problem. I also agree with the person who mentioned the lighter colors not looking as good for as long as the darks. So many I've looked at that are lighter have dark streaking going on. I'd like to avoid that if possible. Dh says we should go more brown, but I like how the blacks bring out the grey tones in the stone. However, I do love the first mock up! I guess I need to decide which "look" I'm going for. I just don't know! I'm wanting an old world feel to it for sure. I was thinking the black walnut would be a good way to stay dark but still get the brown tones. But with that first mock up, it really says "old world" more than the black, doesn't it? I also was concerned about the roof looking busy, like it would compete with the stone in some way. Oh and the whole house will be done in the stone, if that helps. Here is another picture of the house with the stone on it and a black roof. These are the type of shingles we'll most likely be using, do you see any browns there that would work? Here is a link that might be useful: Shingle gallery...See MoreI can't decide whether to move or stay put.
Comments (77)Oh my dear, please don't go Grey Gardens on us! I am super sentimental and realize how hard it is to part with things but even I, in my pandemic homeboundness, have been clearing out "precious" objects. As I do, I realize these things were dragging me down and I feel so much lighter as I give them away, sell them, or ugh, send some to the landfill. As an example, I was just sure someone would want my 1950's chair I had intended to reupholster so I was going to put it on Craigslist. I put it in the driveway for a photo but needed to move my car to give it better lighting. As I backed up a few feet, I heard a crunch. Sure enough, I had tipped the chair, causing one of the legs to break unrepairably. I decided that was the universe telling me to let it go. So it's slated for bulky trash pick up tomorrow. Now if I put it on the curb and someone takes it before that... :-) As for the house, sell it now. It has become your albatross. What once gave comfort and shelter is now an annoyance and budget drain. It has served its purpose for you and your family and now it's time to let it serve a purpose for someone else. Don't deny that someone else of what is a wonderful opportunity for them! Contact a reputable realtor and explore options for both selling and buying. Once you decide your path and goals as @ocluke advises, the universe will open up endless possibilities. Don't block the blessings! I can tell this is all overwhelming and depressing you. Imagine a day not far in the future when you have sold the house, sold the possessions through a good estate sale company, and are living in your new home. You can't see that now because you are depressed so turn it over to the pros. Lots of people are working from home now and are looking to get out of big expensive cities. Your home might be just what they are looking for. All the best to you....See MoreDeck vs patio - can't decide?
Comments (55)It is very shaded behind the house. The sun would not even hit the deck if it came right off the backside. We do use the “flat” area often; however it gets very wet and muddy in that area which is the main reason we started looking into covering that whole area with patio so we could get the most use out of the “flat” land as possible. I think we are set on doing a deck, now need to decide where to place it, sizing and if we should do a patio to cover the rest of the “flat” land....See Morejdez
