The garage doors are a bit of a sore spot for us. Dh is still pouting over not getting the stained doors instead of paint. I'm over that part but we also had trouble with the hardware rubbing when the doors went up. So if you're planning to dress up your doors, make sure there's enough clearance.

We originally had the hardware with hinges and I loved it, but they wouldn't clear on the top. We had to take them off. This photo was taken while we were waiting for the replacement hardware that didn't have hinges. I don't have a photo of the new ones. They work fine but I like the hinges so much better. Our doors are Northwest Doors Heritage Classic Series.

This is the door dh really wanted. It was from a Street of Dreams house. I'm not sure the manufacturer.

Amarr Overhead doors has some beautiful carriage style doors. We used one of their steel versions since we heard too many horror stories about using real wood and ours would be in direct sun for half of the day.

Custom designed PVC insulated doors

I actually don't have photos of my garage doors (and it's already night here), but they are carriage style with hinges and handles. We painted ours the same color as the BODY of the house instead of the trim color. It's a personal preference of ours.

Lindy, what type of siding did you use? I've never seen that before.

I love ALL of them! Unfortunately due to budget I think we are going to end up going with something pretty simple and HOPEFULLY making it work by adding on the accents - But I am so glad you all mentioned about making sure there is clearance. If anyone else has photos, please post!

Robin, it's board and batton. The plan called for cedar shake on that portion of the house but we thought it would look too busy with all the stone. We only kept the shakes on the dormers.

Tinker, Just curious if you took the picture of the 2nd house( steel grey /blue shingle style house) Its a house I designed in Columbus /Dublin, Ohio so I was curious.. The doors look great with the house if I do say so myself. Designer doors does a great loooking door as well for those with a bit higher budget( Im sure but never have priced them)

Ours will be installed this week - Amarr Classica Lucern doors. We went with the insulation between steel. Can't wait to see them.
