Do you REALLY like your clear glass shower?
Comments (33)Does anyone have pictures of using curtains outside the glass enclosure? Curious how it looks. Has anyone used frosted/ matte privacy film and then removed it because you were in a rental or selling? Curious how long it lasted, did it get dirty or yellow, how did you clean it, and how well/ easily did it come off? We are facing the same dilemma regarding clear shower glass enclosures for 2 different showers. I don't want to see any family members showering or be seen. I don't think it's sexy when people actually really clean themselves with a washcloth/ loofah, shave themselves, use a foot-scrubber, etc. People need privacy to clean their private parts. I love how people say lock the door etc. The reality is all families are different with different routines. There are bathroom stress times with larger families; especially in homes with only 2 bathrooms. A cheap way to clean glass shower doors is to dilute DAWN dish soap liquid in a spray bottle. Spray glass and you can use a wet paper towel to rub it all over the glass too. Let it sit 10 to 15 minutes. You can either use a squeegee to get it off or rinse it off and then squeegee the water off or use microfiber towel. Dawn will not cause any damage to the glass or stone tile. I have seen people adding vinegar to the solution; the amount of vinegar added lessens the wait time and can add a pungent smell if lots of vinegar is added. Vinegar should not be used if you have any natural stone tile. Note: This Old House uses Dawn dish soap with vinegar & baking soda to clean grout lines and then re-seals the grout....See MoreCleaning Tile and Glass Shower Doors/Walls
Comments (6)Stop using bar soap and use the liquid bath gel. It is the powder in bar soap that leaves the scum. After cleaning shower doors and walls, use GLOSS-Gel (get at Home Depot) on the walls and doors. Once a week after shower use a nylon bath scrubbie on the walls while rinsing. The little bit of residue will rinse off easy, no hard scrubbing. Shower will last months before a heavy duty cleaning is needed. Put in a hand held shower head, then use it to rinse the walls and doors each time shower is used. Squeege shower every time. Open shower door and let a fan blow in it for an hour. Shower keeping is a breeze by doing the above, not that much trouble either. It is moisture in bathroom that causes mildew and the fan will help dry it out faster preventing mildew....See MoreSoap Scum/Film On Glass Shower Doors
Comments (130)Finally! Last night I smeared a combination of hot vinegar (microwaved 2 minutes and an equal amount of blue Dawn. I had used it last year (guest bath only used once a year). I followed the directions, just let it sit and the bottom of the tub looked great. It did not budge the insane soap scum on the side of the tub. The tub was only used during Christmas vacation by our adult daughter who never cleaned. I was in panic mode tonight and saw someone above mention Awesome Cleaner from the Dollar Tree. I put a little water in the tub to wet the vinegar/dawn mixture from last night, swished my scrubber pad in it to wet it. Poured Awesome powder on it and thanked God because it worked! I could not believe it worked and was in panic mode because my daughter is bringing her boyfriend in town with her! Now if I could just get the rest of the house presentable!...See MoreNo questions here
Comments (8)The open floor plan is what I have and what I was looking for. Lots of windows, no heavy drapes and my guests are impressed except for those who like a formal home. I even got rid of my dining table, I eat at the bar. It makes my living area look even bigger. The only mess I have is hidden on the counter hidden by my fridge and on my office desk, just small things. My home is never messy just lived in. My house hunting has been put on hold. I cannot find a new home anywhere without covenants and I won't go there again. I looked in Oklahoma and in Arkansas. I may have to settle for an older home built before HOA's. I am now waiting until I get my cataracts removed before I take any more road trips....See Moreweedyacres
