repairing drawer rails in old dresser?

Hi there, I recently purchased an old dresser. It has been refinished, doesn't have the original knobs and the rails that the drawers sit on need to be replaced. Does anyone know how I could go about doing that? I'm not worried about it being worth anything really, I picked it up for only $25 and just loved the look of it. I would like for it to be easier to open so my kids can store their art supplies in it. I'm thinking that it's from the depression era but I really don't know anything about antiques so don't know anything about it. Was wondering if I could remove the rails somehow and replace them with more modern ones?

Here's a picture, if it will help I can take pictures of the rails inside of it tommorrow.

TIA!

Robin
