I need some strength from you all

We all have been sick with the flu!!

Hubby is on his 6th day me on my 5th and Mom on her 2nd day of the flu.

My mom has not been eating well for the last 2 weeks and now the last 2 day mostly just jucie and water.

I cant get ahold of our Dr (its friday nite) so in the morning Im going to get her ready for a trip to the hospital.

She is so weak and can hardly walk with even the help of the walker.

Im somewhat better but still cant find anything to eat and will stay down.

Had a milkshake today.

Hopefully she will get some strenght back with some meds and Iv's/

Can you tell Im a wreck ????

Kathy.....Ohhhh so sorry to hear that. If it isn't bad enough trying to care for your Mother in her state, then all of you are sick. Sending well wishes your way, and lots of Hugs. Being your Mother is elderly, and not eating....she may go down fast Kathy. For sure, get her to the hospital tomorrow. I will be praying for you all. We lost our Mother Lara Feb 8th....she went in with a UTI...and never got any better, quit eating, slept contiually, and then passed, when her kidneys shut down. Will check back later and hope you all regain health again so soon......LOTS OF HUGS Gabby

I hope everything goes well and you get her (and you!) to the hospital in the morning...how awful for you all...
They may keep your Mom overnight for IV fluids to build her up....Take good care

i wanted to recommend indian hawthorn (raphiolepis indica) but, the more i think about it, the less inclined i am to do so. they can be very pretty in flower but i have yet to see one that did not have leaf spot(much like red-tip photinias). for something different and unusual, maybe texas ranger (leucophyllum frutescens). there is one growing in a large planter at a vet's office in my area and i like the grayish foliage (semi-evergreen). it naturally grows in arid regions but should do o.k. here in a well-drained site. this might not be what you want if you are looking for something with a more formal appearance but they can be pruned or sheared to shape. this link lists cultivars that i am not familiar with but may have better attributes for form and flowering than the species. Lucy, my Mom listed her house in a small town in MN (even smaller than yours), so I've been looking at the RE listings in her area. I know exactly what you mean about slim pickings! Mom listed at $165K, and there are hardly any listings near that price. There are old/tiny houses for less than $100K, and there are lake properties for $300K+. I suggest you do one of two things: either keep renting, and save as much as you can (dump your car and student loan amounts into savings), or change your expectations. You might not find your dream house in your community right away, but can you find a house you could live with for 5 years? Another possibility is to buy property, but wait to build. If the property is paid for, it counts as equity when you go to build.

I've never made any of those things, but I can tell you that on their own, broccoli, rice, and corn can be frozen. But if the final dish includes a creamy sauce, I wouldn't freeze it, assuming you'd be microwaving it to heat it up. Most cream sauces will separate when heated quickly, leaving you with an oily sauce. I suppose it would be ok if you heated it slowly, in a low oven.

If the ribbons mean a lot to you or your daughter then you should do a nice display. But don't feel a sense of guilt if you'd rather put them in a box and store them away. They aren't part of your personal history with the dog, they are someone else's memories. The dog doesn't care about them :) We occasionally discuss on here people's guilt and feelings of responsibility about hand me downs that they feel no connection with. To me, the ribbons may fall into the same category.

Joining with the others to wish your family a quick & complete recovery. If your mom is hospitalized, will the soc services offer home health aid for short term at least? Especially with your own illness, I would think that would be a priority for her homecoming.

Kathy....So sorry to hear that you all have the flu. Please know that I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Your DM sure does need to be in the hospital...you and your DH need all the rest you can get to get over the flu. Pray that the doctors can also give you all something. Let us know how you are doing. Hi Kathy....wondering how it's going there. Y'all are really having a time. Being that sick and having to care for other sick ones borders on being an emergency. I hope you have gotten help in some form, and you are starting to get better by now....tune in when you can and let us know what's happening. Thinking about'cha. Derry

I hope all went well for your mom. That must have been quite a strain caring for her and your family with you being ill.
