Deck mount or wall mount? Neptune Zen or Hydrosystem Lacey?
Comments (3)I am using mine in a shower/bath combo, so my deck looks different than yours will if you're looking to do a tub-only. I framed a deck and left 3" (including cement board and vertical tile) on the outer edge. I went with the 66"x30" size. Everything surrounding is tiled, including tile up to the ceiling. I used 3" bullnose on the outside edge which (in my opinion) looks really lovely. My faucet is wall mounted because I also have a shower head. I did not get any upgrades. I wanted a simple deep soaker tub. One thing of note is that underneath the bottom of the tub, the sloping of the tub is visible externally which requires a lot more cement at the end opposite the drain than it does at the drain end. According to my plumber, this is "unusual" and we had to improvise by building a dam to keep the cement in place due to the necessary thickness. I really really need to take some pictures and share. I received so much help from this forum. I haven't because it took me so long to finish (complete DIY except for setting the tub and hooking up the tub drain). And now I'm working on a 2nd DIY bathroom / laundry room project and figured maybe I could post pictures when both were done. I purchased mine from a local plumbing store as a special order. They ordered it and I picked it up at the store....See MoreHow to install Neptune Nagano (Onsen) Soaking Tub

Comments (29)I still love my Maytag Neptune 7500 series with touchscreen. Havent had one problem with these machines yet and I purchased the extended warranty for 5 years from Maytag. The extended warranty just expired without a single problem. I did have a model 4000 purchased in 2001 that got all molded/soap scummed from pure negligent use. We only used cold water and only used liquid detergent and liquid fabric softner. That was a disastrous combination! After fixing that problem and finding out how to actually properly use them I had no more smelly machine. In 2005 Sears sold its last new in box 7500 to me for 630.00, about half price. I used Persil for the first 2 years exclusively in powder and since have used Sears Ultra Plus. Never had to leave the door open, never had to take out the bulb, never have even had a need to do the refresh cycles! We have at least one hot wash per week and whites use liquid bleach. Absolutely no problems. I wanted to switch back to Persil but the price jumped up and Sears was convenient so I stuck with it. You might find more whistles and bells on new model washers (but not many) but this set of Neptunes has been perfect so far, and for all those who snubbed the Neptunes I have seen many of those users later crying about thier new machines too. I dont think you will ever find a top loader to compare to the originals from the golden years so best to stick it out with the more dependable front loaders of today. Unfortunately that is a difficult process to find the best ones and too bad for the many who missed out on the progress Maytag made on the original Neptunes. Too bad they resorted to crappy Korean made substitutes and new top loader technology that crapped out on them too. They should have just stuck it out with the original Neptunes and by now thier reputation would have been at least as good as any others you find out there today IMHO...See MoreWater in Maytag Neptune tub
Comments (6)That one fooled a lot of people over the years. I like to recommend Neptune owners to be sure to do regular hot washes and a hot water and bleach load at least once a month. Be sure to NOT USE TOO MUCH detergent and I highly recommend using only powdered detergents. These practices will stave off mildew buildup from soap building up in the outer tub and keep the machine smelling good. Ive had zero problems for the past 3 years following these practices with the Neptune unlike the first 4 years of using cold water only and liquid detergents. That led to a horrible buildup problem that requires extensive cleanup. Take the right steps now and you will have good results....See Moremmcf
