How to install Neptune Nagano (Onsen) Soaking Tub

As part of bathroom remodel, we want a DEEP soaking tub. But, the entire tub (including the support base) must be no more than 48" x 48". And, the tub will be mounted on top of the floor.

So we are at the Neptune Nagano soaking tub (40x40x36). I'm assuming I will have a 4" frame around each side bringing it to a real size of 48x48.

Three questions that I wonder if you might be able to help with:

1. What will I need for steps to get into / out of the soaking tub?

2. The tub will be in the corner. Can we set the tub so that the seat is in the corner (i.e. so you are sitting looking out)? Or do we need the seat along one of the walls so that it can be used as a step when getting into the tub?

3. The tub will be in a 'wet area' -- we are using an open shower that will be right next to the tub. Are there any woods that could be used for the frame base that would hold up to getting wet all the time? Or do we need to just use tile or marble?

And of course, I'm open to any suggestions on other small DEEP soaking tubs that you would recommend as an alternative to the Nagano.

Thanks,

Craig
