Quick drying nail polish

Can anyone recommend a nail polish that will dry before my three second attention span runs out and I have to go do something besides watch my nails dry? It never fails that I end up ruining them. Thanks!

I have purchased these, but have not yet used them. I have heard they are extremely durable. And, in my opinion they are not big enough for big toenails, at least not for mine.

Here ya go, from the link below. If you don't have thinner try adding a few drops of acetone nail polish remover. Only do this if you are planning on tossing the bottle soon, as the high water content and ingredients in remover can cause the polish to separate in the bottle, affecting the wearability of the polish. Since I've been taking better care of my nails, and find that keeping them polished protects them so well from breakage, I'm thinking of investing in a nail dryer. A friend says she sees them all the time at Goodwill for very little. The same friend said that she has thinned her polish a bit and it didn't seem to alter its wearability. "Acetone, toluene, and methanol are the basic ingredients of lacquer thinner. They are toxic and should be used in a well ventilated area." And some other hot solvents also, but these are the basics. Methanol is the most dangerous of the lot. It is easily absorbed through the skin and the body metabolizes it to formaldehyde. It preferentially damages the nerves in the retina. Acetone is the least harmful, with toluene not being very dangerous for short term exposure either. The biggest problem is they stink pretty badly. If the finish is actually lacquer you can probably just re-melt it by using an artist brush and some lacquer thinner. You will not use enough thinner to be a hazard. It will only take a few drops spread carefully on the finish and allowed to evaporate. It is unlikely you would be using more than Â¼ teaspoon.

Before talking about sanding and finishing,let's take direction from the Hippocratic Oath, "First do no harm". You will hear more ideas than you will be able to use from now to eternity,but some will lead to irreversible damage. One is sanding a crater into the wood (resist temptation to sand useing finger tips),another is applying finish over contaminates and some that can be unpredictable. First order of business is wiping intire top with a silicon remover. Next,apply a coat or two of deft to a couple of areas adjoining the damage to see if it melts into old finish indicating it is indeed lacquer. if old finish wrinkles,it's not lacquer and you must find what it is. Once you know type of finish,block sand the damaged area,tack and apply a coat of finish. Follow dry between coats instructions on container then sand,tack and finish once again,this time extending a bit outside first repair. Repeat until you are satisfied with appearance,let dry 3 or 4 times period reccomended for sand and recoat then rub finish out to matching gloss. You should use high gloss simply because it's a little tougher and rubs better.

Sally Hansen has got to be the best. I use mega shine extended wear top coat which suggest to paint underneath as well as the very tip of the nail. Drys in 60 seconds! You may also apply the mega shine in between manicures to freshen up your polish. I also use diamond strength instant nail hardner by Sally as a base coat. Hope this helps

Thanks for the responses. I'll give these products a try and hopefully my nail won't be perpetually chipped anymore.

deb, even with a quick drying topcoat, it does help to set aside time to let the polish harden. It's a drag, I know.........

I've asked manicurists to apply the polish in a thinner layer of coats; they pile it on so thick sometimes it takes forever to harden.

I haven't timed it, but Revlon ColorStay seems to dry quickly. Another cheaper, quick drying polish is Wet 'n' Wild.

Maybelline makes one called Express Finish. I like it. Like most people here, I just don't have the patience to do nothing while nail polish dries!

Another vote for Maybelline Express Finish. I have several bottles in my favorite colors.
