BlueStar Heritage 36 RNB

I been all over the place on trying to figure out which model of BlueStar to buy. I have read these forums for over a year now and I think I know what to expect from a BlueStar range . We have no dealer here so everything is done by looking on line.

Now I think I want the 36 inch heritage (anything longer would cause a 50 % kitchen remodel ). With the heritage I get a little bit of most everything Bluestar offers (I grill outside ) I swear I will also use that griddle as a ghetto French top to make the most of this range .

The raised griddle broiler looks small. Is it actually big enough to be useful? Does the griddle have a reservoir for grease to accumulate (if cooking meat). Is it just a flat plate which would let overflow grease drip into the stove or is sealed tight enough to prevent this? BlueStar's site doesn't even show a large picture of it and none from directly above. I am just as interested of your thought on the broiler. I am guessing the width is almost a foot but I can not tell the length of each. They only have about a 3 line description of it text wise on their site.

ghetto french top.. lol. no other comments on this, but I'm considering Blue Star too, so I hope someone answers.

In my opinion the Heritage is not worth the extra $2000.
All you get extra above a standard RNB is a small broiler that is not as good as the one in the oven.

The other problem i see with the Heritage is that the sides and the backsplash scorch leaving you with brown and eventually black marks.

Also your cooktop is restricted by the raised griddle and the back splash leaving you no room for the larger pan to the right hand side.

Having said that we have sold many over the last 5 years and i have to say not one customer has called to say they were disappointed.

The BS guidance used to be that the range needed to be on a dedicated circuit. The idea was to prevent the igniters from randomly sparking due to electrical noise (also an issue if fluorescent lights on same circuit, IIRC). That was more the issue than the load on the circuit. Don't know if that's still the case. If at all possible, I'd do it to be safe.

1)Not likely, for one, your wall backsplash would be 1" further away than the 6" high range version, and two, the island trim would keep the flame from spreading. Anyway, I've not heard reports of it happening. Which doesn't mean it can't happen with the right pot, and the flames coming up the sides. 2) Again, I've not heard of it happening, but if the oven were on, perhaps the venting might affect the airflow. This was really only some concern with Wolf Ranges and even then, not confirmed, but I thought I'd mention it, since I don't have island trim against the wall and can't speak from experience. However, others here have island trim and have never reported any problem.

As noted, if you check the applaince forum you will get more info. However, I too am getting a 36" Bluestar range and will be putting a pro-style 42" wide Independent 18" Incline hood over it. You want the capture area to extend 3" on each side - hence the 42" wide hood. Some recommend extending the capture area in front as well - going with a 27" deep hood vs 24" deep. I debated this for a while myself and am going just with the 24" deep version since I am tall and those extra 3" sticking out over the range will be more of a hassle in using the range top than the benefits I would achieve from it

I've had my Bluestar 36RNB since Jan. 2013, could not be happier! Best stove I've ever owned or cooked on. None of the issues you have mentioned. It replaced a Thermodor I had for for 27 years, nothing wrong with it either, but the Bluestar performs circles around it...

I have the 36" ,6 burner Bluestar range. I love it. My thoughts were, if I want a griddle I'll use my big cast iron one on the burner. As for grilling I would never want the splatter, clean up mess. I do all my grilling outside, year round. No mess and much better flavor. Cleaning the cast iron grates takes some time, so I wanted to limit the mess. Plus I like to be able to slide a pan off a burner at times while cooking and would not want a griddle in the way. Not sure this was any help. Might I suggest calling the factory? I called twice before ordering mine to ask important questions. Both times I got right through and my questions were answered. Good luck!

The Heritage BlueStar comes shipped with the High Back shelf and rear casters. The raised griddle has a shute which lets grease flow thru to the tray below. The raised broiler come in handy for lots of items including bread and top browning.
the Heritage Classic is the true professional raange look and in the right kitchen it looks great
